Customer Reviews
Trailgator
a lot of fiddling involved before I finally set off with son + bike attached. The nuts and bolts have to be really tight and square on.
The ride is a bit wobbly so would advise quiet roads / paths to practice on initially. Junctions and corners take a bit of getting used to aswell. Once up and running things got easier.
Love it!
I might be speaking too soon, having used it only once so far, but I absolutely love it. Seen it in Halfords for £90 first, then checked the price on amazon. £40 including delivery. I previously had to balance my 4-yarold's bike on the handle bars, while husband took care of the tired little legs. This time she asked to go on daddies' bike after a long run, but we had a trick up our sleeve! Quickly attached her bike to mine - and we were away! Have to say that it took my husband the whole day to assemble it due to the little one's aluminium bike frame, but it solved the problem of tired little legs. Seen another one today with a smaller little girl on it. She was leaning to one side a lot, but she managed to hold on and was pedalling with all her might (bless) to help her dad. I personally did not have any problems, although felt quite apprehensive. It works wonderfully and so far, we all are very pleased with our purchase.
A bit fidely to fit but a doddle to use
Fitting the bracket to your childs bike is a bit fidely, and feels like you need an extra pair of hands. However fitting the trailgator bar to your own bike is a sinch, you just pull your seat out, slide on the collar, put your seat back and tighten everything down. Then there is a very simple clip to fit at the axel and away you go. Once fitted attaching to your childs back is a doddle. It's surprisingly stable doesn't really make your own bike more difficult to ride. My daughter loves it, since she can go a lot faster when she is clipped to my bike than she can on her own. If your child isn't a complete addrenaline junkie like mine they may find the increased speed a bit much. For me, it's ideal because it means I dont have to worry if my daughter gets tired, I just attach her bike to mine and away we go. It is certainly a much cheaper and flexible option than buying a tag along bike.
