Editorial Reviews

Synopsis
James Bond (Roger Moore) must foil the plot of a diabolical scientist trying to control the world computer market by destroying California's Silicon Valley. Christopher Walken is enjoyable to watch as the evil madman and the film also features the trademark Bond bevy of beauties, including Tanya Roberts and Grace Jones. A VIEW TO A KILL also features a title song by Duran Duran and marks the last time Moore would play Bond. Digitally restored.

Moore's Best Bond 5
I don't understand why this film has been rated rather poorly compared to Roger Moore's other outings as the world's greatest spy. I think the cast of this film make it a far better Bond film than the majority of the other Bond films of the 70s and 80s.

Starting with a ski sequence in Siberia, parachuting from the Eiffel Tower in Paris and ending dangling off The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco this film won't disappoint real Bond fans.

Christopher Walken and Grace Jones excel in their performances as Max Zorin and May Day with Walken's character in particular being more believable as a Bond villain than others and rather menacing too. Tanya Roberts plays a bearable Bond girl, she's not the best we've seen but definitely not the worst. The whole cast deliver fresh performances despite Roger Moore who is too old for the part in this film.

Overall a good Bond film with a great title song by Duran Duran (which I might mention has been the most successful Bond song) and as said, will not disappoint real fans of the James Bond series.

Maybe not a 'classic', but still has its moments4
I'll watch any Bond film and look for its good points. "A View To A Kill" is probably not in the top tier of Bond films. Having said that, it does of course have all the key ingredients - such as Zorin (the genetic experiment turned psychopath), his able assistant - May Day (aka Grace Jones), spectacular locations (the Golden Gate Bridge and the Eiffel Tower), some excellent quips, car chases and of course some great music (this time provided by Duran Duran who were one of the biggest bands in the world at the time of its release in 1985).

Any negatives? Well, straight away the opening sequence is not up there with other efforts (it bizarrely includes a take on a Beach Boys song at one point), the plot tends to plod along at times and there are some mid-80's elements such as Bond rampaging with a shotgun (there were a lot of shoot-them-up films around this time) and even Zorin getting in on the act with a machine gun. Bond also has a damsel in distress (Tanya Roberts) in tow for a particularly long time, and it does tends to cramp his style a bit in the latter half of the movie.

"A View To Kill" was Roger Moore's last outing in the role and, in my opinion, he was till able to put in a good shift. Bond fans will always salute his contribution and seven movies.

This is a standard Bond film and one for fans of the genre.

Connery and Moore on the same level5
i loved this film it is my Second favorite Second only to goldfinger and i thought that this was a brilliant way for Roger Moore to end his time as James bond.
Roger Moore is often compared with Sean Connery which you cant do when talking about bond they bring two completley different styles.
as fo the film brilliant 5/5 great action sequences, great villans and Great bond, the music is good. Great for any fan of Moore, bond or just action films
