Book 6 of the "Sons of Destiny" series
In book 6 of this series Rydan, the isolated mage who cannot tolerate to be around others (even his own brothers) is reluctant to meet his destined mate; aware he will probably lose his Guardianship of the powerful magical Fountain beneath Nightfall if his prophecy is interpreted correctly. Running in conjunction with book 5, it is of course no surprise who his destined match will be; Arora (Rora) a living Fountain who uses her magical abilities to "see" a safe haven for her and her shape shifting sister (who is matched to Trevan in book 5).
Despite their initial rather embarrassing meeting (Rydan is drugged, attempts to seduce Rora and is left filled with self disgust at the thought he has violated his older brother's destined wife) Rora is determined to help Rydan. Able to magically see what drives him to such reclusive behaviour, Rora is the only person aware that emotions (even happy ones) attack Rydan with physical force. So how to you handle a man who understandably shuns all contact when he can and also develop a physical relationship when any intimate contact may be literally explosive due to the immense power Rora contains within her?
As Rydan and Rora begin to tentatively explore their deepening feelings for each other, Nightfall's Fountain is attacked by a rogue mage; the brothers of Nightfall uniting with other Fountain Guardians to thwart a hostile magical take-over. The search for more information to re-invoke the Convocation of the Gods also continues; whilst some of the Nightfall residents begin a new investigation into how Rora can safely extract the Fountain inside her.
JJ has again created a fantastic fantasy romance with plenty of imaginative ideas and an action packed, absorbing plot line, leaving me eagerly awaiting the release of the final two books of this series; "The Flame" (available shortly) and "The Mage" (due for pub. May 09).

electric 'Storm'
This is the first Jean Johnson book I have read. I know you should not jump into the middle of a series but that's the way it went.
On reading the first few pages and being introduced to the characters I was struck by the tone of the writing. I reminded me of the early '`Belgariad' books by David and Leigh Eddings but with sex.
After the first chapter or so I could hardly put it down I was sucked in. I need not go into the story line of the book as that has been done very succinctly by `Book Addict'. All that is left for me to say is that I can't wait to read the rest of the books and hope that they are all of the same high standard.
