Nice TV, but a couple of glitches4
I previously bought a 27" Toshiba TV (no built-in Freeview) a year ago and have really enjoyed it - slimline, good picture, etc. - so was keen to buy Toshiba when we wanted another TV for the bedroom. This one certainly fitted the bill, esopecially with the built-in Freeview making it much neater.

Installing it was really simple and the picture quality is good. BUT we have found two downsides:

    1) The strength of reception on all channels is shown as "Good", which it should be as it's coming through a proper digital aerial and we've never had any reception issues on our other TV. But for some strange reason Channel 3 (ITV) can get a crackly reception when you first switch to it. It does tend to settle down after a while, so the TV obviously locates a stronger signal, but this is annoying if you are channel hopping as it does it everytime you change channels. Now thsi may just be a quirk of where we live, but we asked Toshiba's support desk (who are very helpful) about this to see how to manually tune it to a different signal (which it seems to say you can do in the instruction booklet), but were told that you couldn't do that on this model - only on larger screen TVs!

    2) When you change the default sound or picture setting through the digital controls they are lost everytime you turn the TV off or put it on standby. We also checked this with Toshiba's support desk and they showed us how to change these settings so that they were kept permanently, but you had to do it via the analogue settings - which it doesn't explain anywhere and seems very archaic in this day and age.

Anyway, overall it's still a good TV, but you may want to consider the above when purchasing.

Bought this TV for the bedroom. Picture is reasonable but that's the only thing I like about this TV. The set-up and controls are archaic - like something out of the ark. Switching between digital and analogue TV and DVD/Video is so clunky and it took me ages to get the thing set up that at one point I thought I would have to return the whole lot. Toshiba should really pay some attention to this aspect of the TV, other manufacturers do it so much better. We have Philips and Daewoo sets in other rooms of the house and we had no problems at all setting those up.
Also had the issue a previous reviewer mentioned with regard to the volume and picture settings being lost whenever the TV was switched off and back on again. However, this seems to have resolved itself but i've no idea why - the manual that comes with the TV does not explain things clearly and for this reason I would not recommend this TV.

    very good kitchen tv5
I had previously bought a cheap 20" lcd goodmans tv for the kitchen, but luckily for me i was able to return it after 5 days as it had a burntout pixel, and i got the toshiba instead for a extra £79.00 a wise decision!
The Toshiba looks good, easy to use, great freeview reception ( the goodmans could only get 9 chanells) sound and picture quality very good, i have now bought a 370 dvd player to go with it now from amazon at under £40.00 delivered!!, it has the HDMI sockets, and is HD ready so i future proofed, i am thinking of buying one for the bedroom now.
