Nursing Practice and Health Care is an essential companion to pre-registration nursing education programmes, for those studying at degree and diploma level, and for students on post-registration courses.
This fifth edition has been completely revised to reflect the current professional and educational requirements for those preparing for registration as a nurse, while maintaining a strong focus on practice and reflecting the needs of those requiring nursing and health care. Additionally, it uses the 2008 NMC Code as the cornerstone for many of its chapters.
Building on the changes in the fourth edition, the requirements of pre-registration nursing programmes, the fitness for practice initiative and other developments in health policy within the four countries of the UK, the book provides an invaluable support for students as they learn the skills in critical thinking that will enable the development of an accountable, professional practitioner.
Both student- and patient-centred, the book is divided into five parts: Perspectives on nursing, Learning nursing, Practisting nursing, Key aspects of care and Professional support and development.
Key features:
Completely revised and updated to reflect the new NMC Code
Both student- and patient-centred
Tackles key issues for today's student nurse, including health promotion, quality and the patient experience, informatics, diversity of care settings, accountable practice and ethics and the law

Excellent resource for use at foundation and branc level. Fits prefectly with the domains of practice
Review
"Although written for pre-registration nurses and those undertaking further study, this foundation text would be invaluable to nurses of all grades and experience. The content is topical and its credibility is enhanced by a wide range of authors from academic and clinical backgrounds.
While other texts are full of jargon and assumed knowledge, this book is written in plain English and does not assume a lofty academic position."
Michael Adkins, University College, Worcester
A well written and well producted text that has relevance for the students during the 3 years of their training

Fantastic buy
This book is well worth the money, I originally bought it for a module on the culture of care, and so far I have used this book in four modules. It provides both basic and more in depth information on a wide range of nursing topics. Very useful for both the long CFP of project 2000 course, and for the shorter M.A.D course. If you are going into the adult branch this book will remain a useful text throughout your course. There is a very helpful glossary and clinical examples are used to explain the subject.
This book is always the first to sell out at my uni's book shop, which should say how popular this book is, this is the book I would defiantly recommend buying along with an A&P book. Very useful for essays and easy to revise from for exams.
