Fitting tribute to a genuine LEGEND
If you're like me you'll still be trying to get your head around the fact that Alan Shearer has retired. This fantastic book will help soothe the pain! On top of all the stuff you'd expect, like features on top ten goals, top ten matches etc, you'll find a whole stack of articles written by fans - some famous/website/fanzine/newspaper writers and many "ordinary" supporters - with their own take on Alan's career. The majority of the book deals with Shearer's 10 years at Newcastle, but Southampton and Blackburn fans also chip in with their memories, which I found quite touching. His England career is also covered. There's also a quiz and - my favourite bit - a feature on his top "clashes"... Keith Gillespie, Roy Keane, Uriah Rennie, Justin Whittle and all! Obviously this is essential for all Newcastle fans, but any football fan who has enjoyed Shearer's career will get a kick out of this. And the publishers are making a donation from each copy to Shearer's charity fund supporting the NSPCC. A great read and a good cause. Recommended.
great read
This is one of the best Alan Shearer books you are ever likely to read. It is a must for all fans - why? It has all his stats as a player and importantly it has views from fans. It is a great idea for a tribute - letting fans write their own stories gives it a very personal feel. How often do fans get to collaborate on their own book? Exactly! This is a one off.
