Can't find the codes for this device for my Sony equipment.1
Looked like a great idea...until I tried to get it to work. None of the codes were available from Sony and the Strand manual doesn't tell you anything about how to find them. You could try typing in all the codes in the book given, if you had a few days to sit experimenting blindly with code list that Strand give. This device is useless without proper advice on how to find the manufacturers codes quickly. I am dissappointed. The codes I needed were Sony Trinitron TV KV-21LS30, Sony VCR SLV-SE7101, Sony DVD Player DVP-NS29. Looked up the Sony manuals, no codes. Went to Sony's website, no joy. Unless some kind Strand Engineer can give me the above codes for the Strand Universal Control, it is a waste of money and it doesn't work. I'll be looking for my money back.

Reasonable/ good buy3
After trying out a couple of really cheap and nasty universal remotes, I decided to buy the strand master - seemed ok - is a solid enough unit - been dropped several times and is still going strong, works with most devices in my home, although my Irish mitsibushi TV took a bit of playing around with (ie tune buttons involved function + one other obscure button).
clear instructions; seems fine

Cheap, cheerful, partially successful3
The bad news: it doesn't know all the codes to all the kit: fine with Matsui TV and Panasonic Freeview box, stumped by Sony hi-fi and Samsung DVD player.
The good news: it means that for less than a tenner i can keep using my freeview box, whose channel buttons had become sticky/inoperative.
Bad news: you do have to keep the old remotes for all those extra functions this one can't handle (red button, channel ID, info etc).
I now have five remote controls: I think you can judge a man by the number of remote controls he has at his side, do you not agree...?
