What's the problem?
I was a little reluctant to purchase this particular tv due to negative reviews by other users. However, I decided to ignore the comments about sound, menu response, grainy picture etc and am so glad I did. Firstly, there is no grainy picture on my freeview whatsoever and the movie mode really does add a lot of depth and high quality to what you are watching (without HD). If you are the type of person who feels that waiting a single second for a menu to appear after pressing the button then this TV is obviously not for you but for the rest of you who are patient enough to endure this length of time then you will have no problems at all! If you are a human-bat hybrid and can detect super-sonic sounds then you may find that the quality may be lacking but for the rest of us who are merely human then the sound has no problems at all.

I have purchased many items from amazon such as cameras, ipods, headphones etc and not one item has 100% positive feedback. I have spoken to many friends who have purchased samsung TVs, all of which have praised them. To have freeview, High definition on a 23" LCD TV with touch sensitive buttons and sleek design for this price, you must be mad to listen to the bad comments

A Brilliant Buy!!!
I was looking for the old version of this tv (the R71), but when I heard about this one I ordered this instead. Its a bit more expensive but its worth every penny. Black colours, when displayed on this screen are really dark and actually black, unlike the older version where they were slightly grey. It also has a built in freeview tuner which is worth the extra alone! The freeview menu interface is great, and the picture is bright and sharp.

The picture quality is absolutely perfect, you have to see Casino Royale on Blu-Ray through this TV, its amazing! Both the XBox 360 and the PS3 look great on this TV. It has component video inputs which work with the cable supplied with the XBox 360, but you will need to buy a standard HDMI cable in order to use the PS3 with it. After experiencing hi-definition you would never go back though. It also has a VGA input, meaning you can connect your PC or laptop through it if you want to. The sound is also very good considering it is just the built in speakers, and not dolby surround or anything.

The TV itself is very compact and takes up little space, while the screen size is perfect for a smaller room, where a large TV would be oversized (I have it in my bedroom).

All in all this TV is brilliant value for money, presented in a great looking, stylish, and high performance package. It is perfect for use with games consoles, or any high definition source.

Looks great, performs okay
Let me start by saying this TV is absolutely gorgeous. I can sit and look at it for hours without even turning it on.

The good: Setting it up was relatively straight forward. The plug&play option is handy. The menu is user friendly and the lay-out of the remote is good. The TV is nice and compact, so it's ideal for a small living area. The sound is okay and I didn't experience the "tinny ring" noice during films that C. Osmond is referring to.

The bad: I find the response from the remote to be quite slow. I'm not very impressed by the picture quality when using the Freeview tuner. I'm not sure if it's the quality of the broadcast/signal or the quality of the tuner, but sometimes the picture can be very grainy. The TV is a dust magnet, I have to give it a quick wipe almost daily.

Conclusion: This Samsung is way ahead of its competitors when it comes to looks. The picture quality is good, except on certain freeview channels. It's relatively good value for money and the sound is acceptable. I have no regrets in buying this TV and I can recommend it.
