Manufacturer's Description
The new sleek black SD370E DVD player is the latest HDMI player to be launched from Toshiba.
The HDMI connectivity upscales conventional DVD video to 720p and 1080i on compatible televisions. In addition the SD370E features PAL progressive scan and Component Video Output for superb picture quality along with the latest DivX Version 6 for reading encoded video tracks played from CD-R or CD-RW. Add to this MP3 playback and a Jpeg picture viewer, and this DVD player won't dissapoint.

Customer Reviews
Brilliant, but flawed
I wanted to love the SD370E, but in the end it had to go.
Good points: fantastic quality of upscaling for DVDs (on my 720p screen) - looks almost as good as the 'real thing' until you do a side-by-side comparison. Good remote control layout and sensibly thought out menus. Divx playback was flawless. Picture zoom is the best i've ever seen on a DVD player with sensible zoom levels and no annoying icons left on the screen.
Bad points: when playing DVDs via HDMI, I too experienced the random ~5 second freeze that so many other people complain about. Think carefully whether this will be an issue for you before buying. It was a show-stopper here since we just found it too intrusive and ruined the experience. Also, there was no option to stretch a 4:3 Divx to occupy the full screen (you could use the picture zoom, but that often removed more picture than is ideal).
If Toshiba ever release a firmware update that fixes the freezing, then go for this player. Unfortunately it's just too severe a flaw for right now.
Dissapointing
Same story as other review i'm afraid freezing/blocky picture on the very first dvd I played only for short period's of time (about a second or so)but still, even on such a reasonably priced player this should not be happening.A quick search on google seemed to suggest I was'nt the only one to have problems with this particular model.Returning it to Amazon and going for a slighty more expensive sony model.
toshiba sd370e
Hi just bought this at comet for £59 so bargain here,
read up about it and anyone having problems playing should check the video settings and change them to pal or ntsc instead of auto.
