Toshiba's high performance and flexible picture processing system offering different picture modes. 3 x HDMI High-Definition Multimedia Interface is an all-digital audio/video interface capable of transmitting uncompressed streams. HDMI provides an interface between any compatible digital audio/video source and video monitor. Audio Description Audio Description (AD) provides a running commentary for viewers who are visually impaired and will benefit from the commentary. AD is available on selected Digital/ Freeview programmes. Dynamic Contrast Automatically adjusts brightness required by the signal. This system allows fine detail to be reproduced, without compromising the rendering of colourful, high-bright scenes, by dimming the backlight. Conversely, for bright scenes the backlight can be brightened to give images a new intensity. Component Video Input Component Video is a connection method used for delivering high quality video images. This is the best available connection for DVD Video pictures. HD Ready High Definition (HD) Ready - To meet the HD ready standard the TV must have a minimum of 720p horizontal lines of pixels, and either an HDMI or DVI with HDCP and component connection. Digital TV
Between now and the end of 2012 the UK will be turning off all old “analogue” TV transmitters and switching your TV signal to “digital”. Digital TV offers new ways to enjoy your TV. You will have a greater choice of TV channels as well as access to additional features and services which will enhance your TV-watching experience.

When the digital switch happens in your area, your older analogue TVs will no longer be able to pick up a signal. To keep your normal TV service running, you will need to convert your TVs to digital before your area’s switchover date.

Active Vision
Active Vision is our acclaimed high performance picture processing system. It has been designed to produce high quality, high definition images by enhancing core elements of a television picture:

Detail: Images are now spread over a larger number of smaller pixels compared to a conventional LCD TV.

Colour: Active Vision reproduces colours with more tones than conventional LCD televisions, producing images with reduced banding for a smoother, more realistic colour progression.

Movement: Picture sharpness in fast moving scenes is increased, with a reduction in the jagged edges often seen on lines and fine detail.

Contrast: The monitoring and adjustment of contrast, enhances detail and increases the ability of the television to represent subtle shade changes.

Dynamic Contrast
Dynamic Contrast decreases the TV’s backlight brightness in dark scenes and increases brightness in highly-lit scenes. Getting the best picture detail requires the right balance between brightness and contrast, too much or too little of either is a problem.

Toshiba’s Dynamic Contrast technology automatically adjusts the LCD panel backlight, depending on the level of brightness required by the original signal. Dimming the backlight enables the system to reproduce fine detail and render dark scenes more realistically, with blacks having much greater depth. Increasing backlight brightness for scenes requiring more colour, produces more vibrant images with a greater intensity.

HDMI
Put simply, HDMI is the new industry standard for the connection of home entertainment equipment.

High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) connections between TV, DVD and other digital equipment are gradually replacing older SCART connections and make it possible to deliver high definition pictures and sound to your HD Ready TV.

Very Pleased
I bought this TV for use in our kitchen/family room and as a potential backup to our main lounge TV. It only connects to the aerial socket in its current use. The set-up was simple and I was impressed that it automatically allocated BBC1, BBC2, ITV, C4 and Five to channels 1 to 5 respectively. (I'm assuming they are not in that order in the spectrum, in which case this must involve some in-built intelligence). The picture quality is absolutely brilliant, so much so that I haven't even considered trying to make any manual adjustments. The sound is also very good. One minor quibble is that the response to remote control commands is a bit slow, e.g. up to four seconds to switch channels.

Great TV from Toshiba
The Toshiba Regza 26AV615DB provides a brilliant picture and excellent colours. Any adjustments needed to the picture can easily be done from the menu which provides sliders against the various areas such as contrast colour etc. I was quite surprised at the quality of the image as this isn't a 1080p TV but easily matches my larger 1080p TV in terms of brilliance and sharpness of picture and sound.

Great TV at a Great Price
This TV is great. Great colours and picture when i connected it to my SkyHD box + from the BluRay player. Sound is also very good - crystal clear with a good bass response.
Highly recommended TV. The size of it is also good - for someone looking for a TV that isn't too big but not too small either.
