Five years ago Carl Johnson escaped from the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas--a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs and corruption, where film stars and millionaires do their best to avoid the dealers and gangsters. Now, it's the early 90s. Carl's got to go home. His mother has been murdered, his family has fallen apart and his childhood friends are all heading towards disaster. On his return to the neighbourhood, a couple of corrupt cops frame him for homicide. CJ is forced on a journey that takes him across the entire state of San Andreas, to save his family and to take control of the streets.

Amazon.co.uk Review
Considering how massively popular the last two GTA games were Rockstar could’ve knocked out any old rubbish as their last GTA game this generation, but despite Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas not being a full sequel (it still uses essentially the same graphics engine as GTA III) it has more new features and ideas than the majority of official follow-ups.
For a start San Andreas itself is not a city but a whole fictional county, containing the San Francisco-esque San Fierro, the Las Vegas style Las Venturra and the Los Angeles inspired Los Santos. You can drive anywhere else you like in the countryside, between making the game four to six times the size of Vice City.
You can also now start up your own gang in the game, recruiting members and claiming territory--you can even build and operate your own casino once you get the necessary moolah. You can’t just sit around and wait for the money to roll in, though--eat too much junk food and your character will grow fat and have to work out at a gym, as well as keep an eye on a new stamina meter.
The list of other additions and refinements are almost endless; above and beyond the usual claims of an improved aiming system for weapons you can now swim, ride bicycles, get your hair cut, take part in random break-ins and robberies... pretty much anything you were ever told not to do as a kid (except the getting a haircut bit). --David Jenkins

this game rocks.
there are many reasons why i think this game is the greatest in the rockstar games series.
-there are various locations to visit.
-you can steal cars from people.
-you can build up your own gang
-there are awesome cheats to make the game more challenging and fun.
rockstar games is also one of the best game making series in the history.you play the game as cj as you uncover the mystery behind the death of cjs mom.
the action is mind blowing and there is a fine selection of weapons to use.the concept of the game is exceptionally brilliant and it is a glorious symbol of brilliant 3d gameplay and crime causing madness.i got this game at argos and once i put it on it dident work but then it worked fine when we worked it out.i am proud at rockstar games for their big improvement with the game except for GTAIV that sucks a lot.if you decide to buy this game right now with your money you will enjoy it for hours and hours to come.
My favourite game if all time
I have owned a Super Nintendo, Playstation 1 & 2, Gamecube and xbox 360 and i'm telling you this is the best game i have ever played. Theres simply so much to do.
-Stick to the story missions and travel with CJ as he makes his way across the huge state of san andreas, trying his best to help out his family and find his mother's killer
-Build your own unique version of the character by eating food, going to the gym and buying clothes, tattoos and different hairstyles
-try out the many side missions to earn money and respect, such as: firefighting, paramedic missions, police/vigilante missions and taxi missions
-or basically...just do whatever the hell you want!!! wanna fly? steal a helicopter or plane from the airport! wanna blow something up? strap 10 c4 charges to a gas tanker and watch it go boom!!! why not break into the secret army base in the middle of the desert and see how long you can survive?? or go on a murderous rampage through the city with one of your friends using the co op minigame... then finish the day with a nice romantic date with your girlfriend and watch the sunset...just watch out if you decide to take her to the forest outside san fierro, there have been reported sightings of Big foot and i know from personal experience that theres a UFO floating around :)
I'm telling you now, buying GTA: San Andreas is money well spent, even after the release of the super-realistic GTA IV(which in my opinion isn't half as fun as this one), and i take off my hat to anyone who has done the impossible and achieved 100% completion.
the greatest game of the year
i have this game for ps2 and i certainly enjoy playing it.you start playing the game as carl who has discovered his mother is dead.there are more than 45 or 60 missions as you try to solve the mystery.the game itself is also very cool.there are many weapons, citys and roads to drive on.the missions start getting a little simple at times but they are still fun to play.
there are loads of ways to kill people or do stunts plus there are lots of mini-games to acomplish.when i started playing gta vc i was nearly as good as this one.its graphics are cool but its not much like the new one.you can also create your own gang to talk to and ride with.the game begins in the city of los santos where you can visit the local gym,eat at retaurants,or cycle on bikes.i hope the next gta game will be as good as it.
