Amazon.co.uk Review
In a nutshell:
It’s Grand Theft Auto in the Wild West as you take on every varmint in the state, battle cattle rustlers, outlaws, evil business men and figure out the conspiracy behind who your real father was. Simply put, this is an ultra violent tale of the old frontier.

The lowdown:
Swap the cars for horses, San Andreas for the big country and a Uzi for a good old six shooter and suddenly GTA becomes GUN. It’s not quite that exact a copy though: the story missions are much more important here, with the side quests proving to be fairly short lived, and there's relatively little reward available for exploring the game world. The actual business of gun fighting and horse riding looks and feels great, with accurate, intuitive controls and surprisingly violent showdowns. Grand Theft Auto is a better game and Red Dead Revolver is a better Western, but this is still a decent effort at navigating a path between the two. Most exciting moment:
Failing to take care of business in a horseback gunfight, then using your dead mount for cover!

Since you ask:
Developers Neversoft are the same studio behind the Tony Hawk’s games – as you might have guessed from the familiar looking combo messages.

The bottom line:
Doesn’t quite reach its full potential but a fun cowboy simulator all the same.

Good, but could be better!4
I've been meaning to pick up this game for such a long time now and finally managed to a few days ago, since then I have well and truely completed the whole game, including all of the side missions. The point I'm trying to make here is that the game is just too flipping small. I'm glad to say though that the size of the game was one of the few things that could have been better on this game.
The first thing that caught my eye was the lush graphics that made up the detailed western landscape. Waterfalls, canyons, enormous lakes, beautiful planes. The detail that went into the backgrounds and character designs looks painstaking. I think one of the things that makes the graphics so good is the kind of glowing smoothness that adds to the cinematic experience, something I noticed in metal gear solid 3 also. The character development is good, the main character becoming more and moer likable as the game goes on. The storyline is reasonably good and easy to follow as each mission is an intrinsic part of the storyline (story missions that is). Being able to ride horses around puts a whole new angle on the game and makes it much more interesting, especially when in a gun fight. I'm also pleased to say that the controls whilst on a horse and on foot are perfect, no dodgy controls in this game.
However the development of the main character lacks a bit more depth, probably because you only just start to get to know the main character as the game ends. The main story line is also a bit simple and cliche. I liked the idea of the synopsis, where a man with nothing to lose just goes a bit crazy and starts rampaging around for revenge. However the main character doesn't really show much emotion about anything much, and the storyline very quickly moves away from that rather 'real' story of him and onto a story that would be more suited to an Indiana Jones film, except with a better explanation of it at the end.
The game is on a whole very easy. With the aid of quick draw (a very similar asset to the quick fire move in Max Payne)it's reletively easy to kill a lot of enemies in one go without being harmed. I also found that my character levelled up faster than the game did, so my guns were quite often too powerful to make things interesting. The reward system is also lacking somewhat. At the end of the game I spent a good hour or two hunting all the animals for the Indian guy. When I finally did all I got was $10, rubbish! But by this time I'd already bought everything from all the stores so money was completely useless!
All in all this game has a great feel to it. Great sounds, music, voice acting, directing. The minor issues were so minor I didn't even really think about them until I'd done the game. In a way, because its so short it keeps its novelty and appeal for when you dig it out a year or two later. It's definitely a game worth keeping, and buying if you're looking for a cheap game that's good!

when life robs colton of everything that matters the only thing left he can trust is his GUN5
set in the untamed west of the late 1800's, GUN is a free-roaming action adventure game thats takes you to a world without laws - where greed, lust and murder are rampant. As colton white, a vengeful gunslinger, you must straddle the line between good and evil in a showdown against corrupt lawmen, a murderous preacher, renegade army psycopaths, merciless outlaws, and relentless warring tribes. along the way youll wage war on horseback, collect bounties and protects whores. travel through an action packed landscape of high mountain wilderness, deserts, and bustling territorial towns in an epic story of betrayal greed and revenge.

colton white is an anti hero baddass trying to uncover a mystery involving his fathers death and his own life, and whos behind it all when he looses everything, and sets out on a renegade adventure to kill those in order to avenge his father. the graphics are ok on ps2 but better on xbox and 360, the controls are easy and you can do alott, cause havok in towns, hunt wilderness beasts, kill or capture bounties, work on horse delivery service, work as a ranch hand all whilst trying to upgrade your stats, yep this game has its fair share of rpg preferances, youll also get an arsenal of weapons throughout the game, and its very epic, but the map coulve been somewhat bigger and the main storyline coulve been atleast 10 missions longer but what you get is still amazing, gripping and action packed with its fair share of twists and so on, also try and find the hidden 45 gold rocks through-out the map. exellent game, amazing storyline you cant go wrong with GUN.

I love gun5
I do agree with most of the reveiws here, the game is a little short, but if anything thats a complement to the producers. I very rarely bother to complete a game and they have to keep me seriously interested and thats what this game did. Yes, it can be a little repetative, but so can all games and if im going to do something over and over again id rather do it in the wild west than vice city :).

For the price, i suggest everyone buys it, its a good laugh, its not pretentious and if you like big guns... you'll love it.
