Brings back the old links...
Good effort by U2 / Green Day - two great bands, but I agree that the original is better. When U2 first started making it in the early 80s they were often linked with Big Country, so its good to see the old chains haven't been broken (the late, great Stuart Adamson being a co-author of this track with Richard Jobson) and that both U2 and Green Day are fittingly paying tribute to their musical heritage.
A grower
First time I heard this track (on Xfm) I wasn't overly keen on it, but heard it a couple of times since and it has actually grown on me. I like U2 and Greenday so was hoping for an awesome song. Its very good but not awesome. Seek out the original. Buy it anyway as it is for charity!!
Seek out the original
This is a brilliant song but I give the five stars to the original high energy version by The Skids not this effort by U2/Green Day. I'm old enough to have bought it way back in 1979, it's on the album 'Scared To Dance'. It's worth seeking it out because it's a great record.
