	In Ghostly Japan (Tuttle Classics of Japanese Literature) by Lafcadio Hearn Buy new: £9.99 / Used from: £5.50 Lacfadio Hearn is one of the most important exporters of Japanese culture and supernatural tales the western world has known. As vital and readable as when it was first penned.
	Japanese Ghosts and Demons: Art of the Supernatural by Stephen Addiss Buy used from: £65.69 Concentrating on various representations of the supernatural in Japanese art. Each chapter takes on a different aspect from Hyakki Yako to Animal Transformation. A very insightful read.
	Ghosts and the Japanese: Cultural Experience in Japanese Death Legends by Michiko Iwasaka Buy used from: £15.14 A fascinating glimpse into the world of spirits and ghosts in Japanese folklore and culture.
	Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things (Tuttle Classics of Japanese Literature) by Lafcadio Hearn Buy new: £9.99 / Used from: £6.73 A collection of haunting tales from Lacrfadio Hearn, more absolutely essential reading.
	Yokai Monsters, Vol. 1: Spook Warfare [1968] (REGION 1) (NTSC) Buy used from: £12.95 First in a collection of films from the late 60's chronicling the exploits of Japanese monsters or 'Yokai'. Recently remade (Loosely) by famous director Takashi Miike.
	The Great Yokai War [2005] (REGION 1) (NTSC) Buy used from: £25.46 Loose remake of the above movie. Better special effects but a lot of the charm found in the original is missing. Not one of Miike's Best.
	Yoshitoshi's Strange Tales by John Stevenson Buy used from: £69.70 Fantastical works of the strange and supernatural from one of Japans greatest woodblock artists.
	Okami (PS2) Buy used from: £11.85 A truly outstanding game made to look like a moving piece of brush art. Based on Japanese Folklore, not 100% accurate but 100% breathtaking.
	Pom Poko Buy new: £7.98 / Used from: £4.99 Very enjoyable movie, if more than a little sad, but watch this after you know a bit about japanese mythology and folklore and see how many references you can spot.
	Tales from Japan (Oxford Myths and Legends) by Helen McAlpine Buy new: £5.99 / Used from: £3.23 A satisfactory book. Good but still not as good as Japanese Tales (see no.1 of this list)
	Dororo Vol.1 (Dororo) by Osamu Tezuka Buy new: £6.99 / Used from: £5.65 First part of a three part manga where an orphan tries to retrieve his lost limbs from a host of demons - just made into a quite decent movie by Toho!
	Yokai Monsters: One Hundred Monsters [1968] (REGION 1) (NTSC) Buy used from: £5.27 Second in the Yokai Monsters movie series. Not as good as the first but still entertaining enough.
	Yokai Monsters: Along With Ghosts [1969] (REGION 1) (NTSC) by Yokai Monsters Buy used from: £12.82 Third in the series, all the humour and energy has gone and this is a much less enjoyable film for it.
	Kibakichi [2004] (REGION 1) (NTSC) Buy used from: £3.87 Werewolves, samurai and monsters; how can you go wrong? watch this and find out - buy only if cheap and you're desperately bored. Although the Kappa do look quite good.
	Kwaidan - Masters of Cinema series [1964] Buy new: £12.67 Dark, Intriguing and an absolute classic. Based on Hearns book of collected Japanese ghost stories and folk tales.
	Blood Will Tell (PS2) Buy used from: £7.48 Video game based on the Dororo manga.
