Now, at last, he's opening up the Stan Winston Studios to collaborate on the first-ever book to reveal all the behind-the-scenes secrets of his groundbreaking and hugely influential artistry and effects work. Stunning - do not hesitate to buy!
If you are a fan of special effects and the Winston studio then you will not find this book any less than perfect!
Special Effects Porn!
This is the kind of book that coffee tables are made for. In fact, shame on you if you havn't got a coffee table, this book deserves one. Get the table, leave the book out upon it, and wait to see the reaction of visitors to the combined genius of some of the best artists in cinema. It is a shame that so little of their skill is ever visible. Hopefully, High Def will allow more people to appreciate their talent.
A wonderful celebration of a true genius.
This book is a wonderful celebration of the life and work of Stan Winston, one of the most gifted and talented artists to have worked in Hollywood.
There are hundreds of beautiful photos which show Winston's work in painstaking detail. Take for example a double page spread which has Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator on one side, and on the other, Arnold again but this time it is a full scale model of his head. At first glance it is impossible to tell the difference. Spend some time looking and it obvious which is which but in the context of the live action film it is easy to see just why Winston's effects are amongst the best in the world.
The text in the book is just as fascinating as the pictures, and gives a real insight into the life of Stan Winston. Even if you can't be bothered with all the reading, this book is worth buying for some truly amazing behind the scenes pictures of some of the biggest blockbusters from recent memory.
