"Dressage Masters" takes the reader into five of the greatest training stables in Europe. The master instructors express their philosophies and practices with regard to training horses and riders, and the state of dressage elsewhere in the world. They also share fascinating and enlightening stories about their own education, and the triumphs and hurdles encountered along their paths to success. The trainers are: George Teodorescu - trainer of many top international teams and riders, including his daughter Monica, twice Olympic Team gold medallist; Klaus Balkenhol - Olympic Individual and Team medal winner, coach of the German Olympic gold medal team and of the USA Olympic bronze medal team; Dr. Uwe Schulten-Baumer - trainer of Nicole Uphoff, Olympic equestrian record holder of four gold medals, and Isabel Werth, Individual Olympic silver medallist and twice Team gold medallist; Ernst Hoyos - trainer of Ulla Salzgeber, winner of two Olympic Team gold medals, and Lisa Wilcox, member of the United States Equestrian Team bronze medal squad; and Harry Boldt - twice Olympic Team gold medallist and two-time Individual Olympic silver medallist, and coach of the highly successful German dressage team from 1981 to 1996. Each chapter includes insightful descriptions and sequence photographs of exercises and other teaching techniques, and the book concludes with a detailed index that cross references training problems as a handy guide for the reader/rider's own program. Already eagerly anticipated by the international dressage community, "Dressage Masters" is destined to become an instant classic in the literature of classical horsemanship.

Customer Reviews
One to read and reference again and again.
This book is a must for any trainer or rider, needing inspiration. It encourages thoughtful consideration and, in many places, questions the motives behind modern dressage training. Each trainer puts forwards their views on numerous core questions, yet there is so much more I would have loved to have asked (and heard considered)! The book is invaluable. For me, an oldy, all this new natural horsemanship, so popular of late, has very much seemed a revamping of what all my old trainers tried to show me when I was a we wippersnapper, on reading this book I am reassured they knew, and know what they are doing, all horsemen must have feel and respect for the horses they train, and these gentlemen do, with humility.
