Could do better
This is a good DVD set, but could so easily have been an excellent one.
I'm not overly interested in driving though Africa, but bought the DVD on the strength of a taster DVD included in a Land Rover magazine, which suggested that there would be a lot of vehicle preparation included on the DVDs. There isn't - the majority is showing you how to make the most of your internal space with shelves and boxes, etc. Excellent if you have a new vehicle, but does not shine any light on the best ways to improve older vehicles for overland trips.
There are three DVDs: vehicle preparation, driver training and destinations. Driver training concludes with fitting tyres. Why is this not on vehicle preparation?
The other annoying thing is the amount of time given up on the DVD to Land Rovers driving overland with just a musical (?) backing. Occasionally a voice over will mentions something and it becomes so much more interesting, making you wonder why the entire thing couldn't have been voiced over with useful information.
This isn't a cheap DVD and I really, really want to like it, but it annoys me that it could be so much better. Make it four disks, include all of the vehicle preparation of the 110 Station Wagon on the taster DVD and voice over the entire African drum beat background music and this would never need to be removed from my DVD player.

first place to go before any expedition
With the popularity of adventure driving and riding these days (on the back of ewan macgregor and charlie boorman) reference material was always going to follow, instructing people how to get a taste of adventure for themselves. This DVD is a very well put together set of disks. It gave all the information that we required about undertaking a expedition in any easy to understand format. It covered the planning, kit lists and many hours of expedition and situations that was very informative. A highly recommended watch.
