Amazon.co.uk Review
"Jump in we'll take you for a spin/And show you round the Wheelie World" . For pretty much anyone between the ages of 25 and 40, merely the opening line of the theme to this crazed slice of cartoon bedlam will be enough to jog memories and pluck heartstrings. For everyone else, a brief synopsis is probably in order. Well, self-evidently there's Chorlton, the least intimidating dragon in television history, whose unexplained arrival among the Wheelies is a constant source of vexation to Fenella, a spectacularly ineffective witch with a base camp at Spout Hall (yes, it's a big kettle) and a cadre of mushroom-like toadies and "spikers" with whom she consorts to bring havoc to Wheelie World. Oh, and she also has a son, who only ever appears as a vast, disembodied foot.
In short, Chorlton is a crown jewel for all fans of 70s children's TV at its most unapologetically demented. The first series opens with "Happiness is Hatched", wherein, of course, Chorlton arrives fully formed in Wheelie World via an enormous egg. Needless to say, the ever-apoplectic Fenella remains hysterical throughout. --Danny Leigh

BRILLIANT !!
What can you say other than FANTASTIC !!!
Go on, re-live your youth esp after a Friday night on the town
"By ekk!"
I couldn't believe the memories that flooded back when I watched the first series again - I rememberd that when I was a child I was actually afraid of Fenella the 'geordie' witch! and it gave me the spooks even now! hehe!Definatley my fave character though!
The great Chorlton and his "by eck!", "ekky thump!" and "'ello little old lady!" Excellent - I think children all over should view this instead of the ... Tellitubbies and the Teeny Weenies! 10 out of 10!
Even if you can't remember it - buy and and I am sure you will remember it!
This is a classic and wonderful to watch!!! =)
Ecky thump! Chorlton is back - on DVD!!!
Chorlton is at last back with us after years of neglect, with a very deserving DVD release. Prior to buying this DVD, I can remember from my childhood the fantastic theme song and the great cast of characters, but it was a bit psychedelic for me to understand the stories! Now, after watching this DVD (re-living my childhood, of course), I realised it was about a happiness dragon who is blissfully unaware of his power to bring happiness to Wheelie World, and was equally ignorant of the fact that the "little ol' lady" he comes across every episode is in fact Fenella, the evil witch who lives in a kettle! The storylines are great, but the animation is fantastic, especially the way Fenella moves around the place. One thing for certain, though, Chorlton will bring happiness not only to the Wheelies, but also the viewer, no matter what age they are. Great entertainment for all. Buy it NOW!
