Good for a laugh!
This Dogtanian DVD has both TV movies (or specials) based on both series.
The TV special 'One For All and All For One' or 'the TV movie of the second series', the dubbing was done by some unkown dubbing company based in London and it was done in 1995, so the voices ALL sound different and some of the names have changed.
If you are a real hardcore Dogtanian fan, then you would probably just buy this for the sake of hearing the ridiculous voices heard in this special or to see the first series special, if you're not then you would probably stay clear from buying this release.
This DVD has one good point to it though and that's the TV special from the first series, Cam Clarke (the undisputed Dogtanian) is one of the voice actors who remained to do this special, some of the Muskerhounds though have different voices, but once you got used to them, it's OK. Trust me they are not as bad as in the second series special. Oh they now refer the musketeers as 'muskehounds' in this special.
Other notable voices who came back for the first series special are Mike Reynolds (Widimer) and Drew Levi Thomas (Pip).
The first series special just tells Dogtanian's story from where he left his home to become a muskehound, up to the point where he retreives Queen Anne of Austria's diamonds back from the Duke of Buckingham before Cardinal Richelieu got his hands on them, so it dosen't tell the full story but it's enough for a 90 minuite special, while the special from the second series skipped through a couple of the story arcs after foiling King Louis XIV's evil twin brother Blanbec's plan to rule France in his place towards the last story where Milady kidnapps Dogtanian's daughter and how the muskehounds rescue her and manage to stop Blancbec once and for all.
Overall if you want to see the Dogtanian special from Series 1, then buy this as it's good value, but if you think there's nothing too satifying on this DVD, then you will be better off buying the series box sets, even the voices from the second series (with some of the first series actors returned to do the voices, like Mike Reynolds, Drew Levi Thomas and Doug Stone) are much better then the dubbed second series special from 1995.
