Customer Reviews

Great nostalgia but great stuff too!5
This is probably my favourite CD of the last couple of years. Initially I bought this because I loved the films but as time has gone on, I just love it for the mix of music (classical and modern), with Delpy's opening track probably my favourite even though it doesn't feature in either of the films.

Delpy has a beautiful voice which is lyrical and gentle in "An Ocean Apart" and "Waltz" while being harsher and almost teasing in "Je t'aime tant". The classical pieces fit well with her tone and are beautifully evocative. It's great to hear the fuller versions of music used for background in the first film, particularly to my mind, the Purcell which builds all the anticipation of Before Sunrise's opening scene. The last three songs felt a little out of place to start with. They are the cooler, hipper songs from Before Sunrise, but having them together at the end of the CD leaves you feeling upbeat and stops me at least, from wallowing in too much romantic nostalgia!

This is a great CD for all those who love the film, but it's also a good mix of music, easy to listen to and able to withstand frequent relistening.

Before Sunrise3
Only true Before Sunrise fans will enjoy this music as you can picture the scenes from the film where the music was played. I love the songs sung by Julie and the songs that were playing at an integral moment in the film. I love the harpsichord which reminds you of the train crossing through the countryside of Vienna, and the quiet, meaningful moments which passed between two strangers who met on a train and went on to become soul mates while walking through the streets of Vienna. The last few tracks are good but seem a little out of place on a romantic album such as this as they are somewhat more upbeat and were played during the less monumentous moments of the film. Overall, not a bad soundtrack.

soundtrack to the most romantic film of our generation5
At last - how many years have before sunrise fans had to wait for this album? Well, speaking as one of the three people (probably) in england who've seen the film and know it to be the defining falling-in-love movie of our generation - before sunrise was, until now, the best romantic film ost that never was. This album has been released following the release of the film's sequel, before sunset (which i still cant bring myself to watch - too afraid - the original film just meant so much to me - haha). Amongst the eclectic mix are the end credits song for bs (livin life) and THAT song from the uniquely wonderful music-booth sequence of bs - "come here" by kath bloom - worth paying the money for on its own to be honest.
Enjoy.
