Customer Reviews
All together now, 'Eighty days around the world, we'll find a pot of gold, just sitting where the rainbow's ending...'
I'll be honest and say the theme tune is what got me to watch this cartoon.
I know it used to remind me of Dogtanian, maybe it was all the anthropomorphic animals. As the previous reviewer states, it is the Philias Fog story retold, 'Willy' is an English gentlelion who accepts the wager that he can traverse the globe in 80 days. To do this he uses all sorts of modes of transport, including, hot air balloon, elephant, train, camel etc, etc. All the while being sabotaged by the minion of the guy who bet him he couldn't make it in 80 days.
Along with Ulysses 31, Dogtanian, Raggy Dolls, Mysterious Cities of Gold and later in my childhood - Fantastic Max, the pinnicle of cartoon theme tunes was reached.
Let's Travel
This is animation at it's best the 80's cartoons most are showing there age but some were groundbreaking and they are now reappearing on DVD.
This is based on a famous stoires of a man called Philles Fog (Not Willy)animals play all the major parts through out and to watch the whole lot in one go would take the best of two days.
All 26 episodes of the great story are here with a great episode from another great 80's series which is also on DVD.
The story this series is based upon is 80 Days Around The World in is set before air travel so the undertaking was a great risk and with £20,000 pounds at stake.
Jules Verne's famous book predicted the future fairly well as now we can go around the world in less than 80 days.
