great soundtrack to a great show5
this has to be my favourite T.V soundtrack of all time. Most of the cast including Tom wopat, John Shneider, Catherine Bach, James Best and Sorrel Booke, all turn out to play a part. they've even got the wonderful company of country greats Willie Nelson and Johnnie Cash as well as Waylon Jannings of course. there are some wonderful highlights John Schneiders 'in the drivers seat' is my favourite but there are others. Tom Wopats 'up on Cripple Creek' can't fail to impress and Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson's ' Mamma's don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys' is most certainly a glorious highlight. there;s also 'those good old boys are bad' John schneiders scond impressive effort on the album as well as waylons original good ol boys theme tune. Overall, great stuff!

Enjoyable musical spin-off3
The reissue of this album is welcome with its additional tracks - "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys" by Waylon and Willie, and Waylon's single version of "Good Ol' Boys". The album is essentially a musical episode of the show with songs and narration telling the story of a race starring the General Lee. The songs aren't great, but the album is fun nonetheless. There is a monumental marketing error with this album though - Waylon's "Good Ol' Boys" is NOT the original version as heard on the show - it's the version he recorded and released as a single. It's a fantastic song (even without the 'two modern-day Robin Hoods' line), but the producers of this album should know better than to describe the content incorrectly. It's particularly ironic as this reissue album has liner notes in which Shooter Jennings mentions how his dad was asked to include a line about two modern-day Robin Hoods fighting the system before the song could be used for the TV show. This is one for the Dukes enthusiasts - fun but not spectacular.
