Synopsis
Created by Donald P. Bellisario (JAG, Magnum P.I.), Airwolf was among the many action-adventure shows of the 1980s that garnered a cult following. Jan-Michael Vincent stars as the improbably named Stringfellow Hawke, a Vietnam veteran still troubled by the disappearance of his brother during the war. Secret government agent Archangel (Alex Cord) approaches Hawke with a unique offer: to help him recover and then become the de facto pilot of the powerful, top-secret helicopter known as Airwolf. With that proposal begins Hawke's adventures, along with his sidekick Dominic (Ernest Borgnine) as pilot of the advanced aircraft. Contains all the episodes from the second series of the show.
Customer Reviews
Not as good as series 1
This is the 2nd series and thankfully retains its core cast of:
Jan-Michale Vincent: Stringfellow Hawke
Ernest Borgnine: Dominic Santini
Alex Cord: Archangel
Deborah Pratt: Mariella
Unfortunately the producers of the show started interfering with the show, against the Creators wishes (Donald P Belisaio creator of Magnum, Quantum Leap etc) wanting to make it more family friendly, jazzing up the Theme tune, adding more elecronic sounds to the soundtrack (all detriments) and also adding a female lead(Jean-Bruce Scott as Caitlan O'Shaughnessy)which unfortunately throws the narrative off and makes the show uneven. Whilst not a travesty this season saw it take the Knightrider route with Airwolf less involved in Government issues and more into a sort of dispute settler. All this conspires to detract from all the good work establsihed in season 1. The show also amkes the sin of having some actors from the previous series return in different roles and also of very noticably re-using stock footage.
The episodes are:
Sweet Britches
Firestorm
Moffett's Ghost
The truth about Holly
The hunted
Sins of the past
Fallen Angel
HX-1
Flight #093 is missing
Once a hero
Random Target
Condemned
The American dream
Inn at the end of the road
Santini's millions
Prisoner of yesterday
Natural Born
Out of the sky
Damnbreakers
Severance Pay
Eruption
Short walk to freedom
The DVD again has no extras, and the screens are not as nice as series 1. It still has the airwolf theme tune playing but looks like less effort was made for this one.
Amazing Program
If you're reading this then you already know how great Airwolf was, if you don't then do yourself a favour and buy this. You won't regret it.
