More Than The Sum Total Of Its Parts
The 80s was a spectacular period for pop, lets face it. Great to hear tracks like "Imagination" and "She Blinded Me With Science" again. Especially in such sumptuous remastered quality.

Clearly, no album of 54 tracks can reflect the best of a decade. There is a marked absence of ABC, Black, Breathe, Fiction Factory, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Inner City, M (Remember "Pop Musik"???), Mobiles, Soft Cell, Wham, etc. etc. but a comprehensive selection nonetheless, it has to be said, features on this CD.

I liked hearing some of the oddities - Climmie Fisher, anyone? - But two tracks from Hazel Dean and none from Kylie or Rick Astley? As for the gawdawful "It Started With A Kiss" by the ever mawkish Hot Chocolate??? A strange inclusion to my mind. Then again, it's all a question of taste. Like I said, 54 tracks cannot encompass the absolute greatest of a decade.

But a good attempt. And certainly worth the price. Well done Amazon. If you need any suggestions for volume 2 then I'm your man.

having been born in the 80's and listening to what music sounded like back then this compilaton just about has an awesome track selection that can keep me listening till the end.
