I would recommend these gates.
We have 2 of these gates and they have been used firstly in a flat and secondly in our new home.

Easy to fit and very strongly built. They have kept all 4 of our boys safe and secure.

I've no idea how the previous reviewer's daughter can get the gate open - as you have to press buttons both side of the gate and simultaneously lift the catch. A toddler's hand simply isn't big enough to reach around to press both buttons.

If this gate had an easy close mechanism it would have got 5 stars.

The most awlful safety gate in the world
Bought one of these gates, what a mistake it lasted 6 months, at 14 months old my daughter learnt to push the button in and lift open, because its so easy to open. Then her constant shaking of this gate has now led to the bars where the handle is falling out so there is now a lily sized gap and it and has basically fallen apart. I will never buy this gate again, because a 14 month old child who weighs just 21lbs should not be able to wreck it. Bring back the gates you could cock your leg over, they where much safer and lasted for ever.

I AGREE WITH 'geoffbland' MY SON IS 2 YEARS OLD AND STILL CANT OPEN THIS GATE !! IF THESE GATES ARE INSTALLED TIGHT ENOUGH , THERE IS REALLY NO WAY A SMALL CHILD CAN OPEN THIS GATE. THEY ARE GREAT !!!
