    A quality item5
Having previously used one of the first Philips DECT baby monitors I was keen to see how this new model performed. Whereas the older model offered basic monitoring and talk facility this new model offers several extra features including 5 lullabies, digital display, remote access and temperature monitoring.

Its crisp white colour is far more pleasing on the eye than the old brown and cream version and the overall aesthetics are much improved. The monitoring unit is neat and unobtrusive with a natty little temperature monitoring antenna at the rear. So far the temperature monitor has been spot on and I have not had any trouble with false readings as some reviewers have mentioned.

The handset sits securely in its cradle without the finicky connection of the old version which used to be a bit of a lottery at the best of times. The menu system is very straight forward and its a doddle to set your preferences regarding sensitivity, volume, temperature and sound alerts. Another nice little feature is the ability to turn the night light and lullabies on remotely. I was expecting the lullabies to be dreadfully tinny and annoying but in truth they are rich and soothing, albeit a little short in duration. The night light is adequately bright and does not light the room up like a beacon as some makes do.

The sound quality is excellent and I have had no incidence of signal interference from other wireless devices in the home. If I have any criticisms it is the use of the blue screen illumination where the writing is very awkward to distinguish due to it appearing blue on a blue background. It would also be useful if you could turn off the rather loud beep from the handset when changing settings in the middle of the night!

Overall I am extremely pleased with the quality of this item and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to fellow parents.

Yes its expensive but you cannot but a price on the peace of mind it provides and the old adage of 'you get what you pay for' applies here.

    Very clear, sensitive monitor4
A very easy to set up, and use monitor. It was fairly intuitive to use, and certainly quite aesthetically pleasing.

I have used a different brand of monitor for the last 2 years happily and was interested to see what this one offered as it seemed a little more advanced. Despite my daughter being a toddler, I still find a baby monitor an essential piece of safety equipment allowing peace of mind whilst she sleeps.

I found this monitor to be impressively clear and sensitive to sounds - so much so that at night I even turned the sound right down and relied on the lights which also functioned beautifully and every sound. Super extra details such as temperature and a warning alarm for the temp you set being breached (either too high or too low), a remote lullaby, and long range make this a cut above in terms of baby monitors.

Very impressed, and can see this being used for a good while to come. Wish I'd had it from birth (but then doesn't technology change quickly!) Would recommend - only 4* due to being quite a high cost item. Think it would be better value around the £60 mark, and a definite bargain under that.

    Mid range monitor3
We have had this monitor for the last four weeks and realize that you get what you pay for.

Is practical and well designed ,light to carry around and has an exceptional good range.

A very good feature is the temperature reading from the baby's room displayed inthe handset.
It comes with multiple attachemtns and accesories.

The main problem is feedback .To give you an example if you do not sqitch it off when you walk in to the baby's room the horrible feedback noise will wake and upset everyone in the house , let alone a poorly baby.

    Overall a mid range product.
