Amazon.co.uk Review
Fire up The Final Scene and you're greeted with the most gripping opening sequence yet in a Nancy Drew game. As the ageless, mystery-cracking heroine, you accompany your friend Maya to a historic but dilapidated theatre to interview teen heart-throb Brady Armstrong for the opening of his new movie. As Maya disappears into the dressing room for the interview, you hear a scream, but when you charge in to investigate Maya is nowhere to be found. Do you have what it takes to track down Maya's kidnapper before the theatre is demolished?
The most notable improvement in the game comes in the form of the distinctive characters. With each new Nancy Drew game, the script and character work get better. The dialogue here has a youthfulness and sense of humour missing from the previous games. The old-theatre setting and the game's theme of magic are admirable, but it would be good if there were more nooks and crannies to explore.
A minor nitpick is that the time-frame seems somewhat limiting. Previous Nancy Drew games had an open feel with no sense of urgency and you solved the mystery in your own time. In The Final Scene, the gameplay is divided into three days and you must accomplish specific tasks before you can move on to the next day. Though this structure lends itself well to the game's plot, it's easy to get stuck on one clue. However, you can always look for help on the message boards at Her Interactive's Web site.
Little grumblings aside, The Final Scene really is a fabulous game that goes above and beyond most games out there right now. It's highly recommended for anyone aged 10 or over. --Ara Jane Olufson
Manufacturer's Description
Nancy Drew: The Final Scene puts the player in a race against time searching for a kidnap victim being held captive in an historic theater.
Shortly after Nancy’s friend, Maya Nguyen, enters the men’s dressing room to interview movie star Brady Armstrong, Nancy hears a blood-curdling scream for help. Nancy rushes into the dressing room but Maya is nowhere to be seen. Seconds later, Nancy receives a call from Maya’s kidnapper threatening Maya’s life unless Nancy puts a stop to the demolition of the old theater. Nancy has three days, before the building is destroyed, to figure out how best to help her friend. Does she try to stop the demolition of the theater thereby guaranteeing release of her friend by the kidnapper or does she concentrate her efforts on finding and rescuing Maya herself? Nancy is on her own since the police don’t believe that Maya has been kidnapped and as she enters a world of peeling wallpaper, graffiti and stained walls, she must keep a cool head in order to find her friend before time runs out.

THE FINAL SCENE
THIS GAME WAS AN UTTER DISAPPOINTMENT AFTER THE OTHER NANCY DREW GAMES I HAVE PLAYED,IT WAS VERY SLOW,EXTREMELY SHORT AND FAR TOO MANY "RED HERRINGS" WERE IN IT,I FELT IT WAS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY AND TO BE HONEST IT HAS PUT ME OFF PURCHASING ANY MORE GAMES AS I SO ENJOYED THE OTHER ONES I HAVE I AM AFRAID IF I GET ANYMORE THEY MAY BE AS DISAPPOINTING AS THIS ONE -AND WHERE ON THE PC IS THE "DELUXE OPTION"?I CETEINLY DID NOT FIND IT!
not the best bnancy drew
Not the best of the Nancy Drew games, Lacks a bit of imagination, the game is played in one place,...the royal palladium theatre..compared to the other Nancy Drew games I feel this game has a lack of puzzles... I love adventure games and especially Nancy Drew but was rather disapointed in this one.
