Force Edge
Now that this game is finally out, reviews can be done by those who actually own the game. I am one of those people.
To start with, graphics...
Character models, outstanding. Even your own custom characters look amazing, unlike most games that include a create a character option, where your own looks rubbish comapred to the originals. Not the case here. Also, for those of you having trouble creating a character from scratch, select the character box inbetween "random" an "Sigfreid" :)
The customisation even allows you to change originals. Meaning you can have Mitsirugi in a suit of armour with different hair if you so choose. But back on the graphics. Although they look good, the backgrounds could do with more variety imo. But still, nothing to be scoffed at, as they are better than the majority of fighters that we see nowadays.
Audio wise, it is in fact laughable as always. The Soul franchise, right back to day one with Soul Edge on the PS1 (Which should be released on PSN imo), has always had ropey english voice overs. These are just as bad, but not in the kind of way that you want to poke fun at Namco for being so stupid, instead you should realise that the reason may be that they have spent more time refining the game itself, instead of perfecting audio.
Which brings me onto gameplay. A friend of mines recently doenloaded the original Soul Calibur on Xbox Live, and was reminded of how good it was. Similair theme here guys. The fighting is fast, and intense, and most of all, if you want it to be, it is very technical. You can get by on button mashing true enough, but where's the fun to be had there?
If you take your time with any one character, be it real, or your own creation, get to know there moves, and combos, then you're in for a special treat. The moves will look amazing, and the battles will look epic, fitting together nicely with the orchestral score ramping up in the background.
Finally, online mode.
Owning this game for the PS3 (I wanted Darth), the online mode is basically matching you against similairly skilled opponents. However this is not always the case. You sometimes find yourself up against a far superior opponent than yourself, and will in fact, have your ass handed to you three times in a row very quickly. Best bet is find some friends with the game and play them until you are better.
But generally online plays like a dream. No lag whatsoever from my experience, quick matchmaking, and simple interface.
The one gripe I have isn't with the game, it's with players. They tend to kick you out if you beat them....
So, overall. Soul Calibur 4. Finally here, Star Wars characters and all (Btw, good luck against the apprentice in arcade mode). It was definately worth the hype in my opinion, but you lot will have to judge for yourselves. I give it a solid 5 stars because the time I've spent with it has shown the love that Namco has put into the fifth installment of the Soul series. And I salute them for it. I only hope they leave it here, on a high note, and don't continue down the Mortal Kombat path of spin off's and sequels upon sequels....
However, if anyone has this game on ps3, and fancies some online battling, add me and give me a message and we can have some epic battles. :)

Best Fighting Game!! Period!!
Graphics-
Best so far!
Sound-
Crisp yet has silly/funny narration.
Gameplay-
Very responsive controls, complex yet easy(ish) to learn combo system.
Features-
Excellent- multiple single, multi, online, bonus modes with galleries & a superb character creation system
Replay Value-
Plenty- about 350 pieces of equipment to unlock, character creation system has hours on itself (personal experience here LOL). Then theres the forthcoming download content! New costumes, equipment, characterS? (Yoda) Will definitely keep you busy till the next installment.
Negative-
I can't seem to be able to fit my custom characters with a lightsabre! Mind you, this could come later!!
Otherwise, highly recommended!!
This game will drive you mad...
Okay for a start, why doesn't the lightsaber cut others to pieces? They've been shown to cut through doors the size of a bank vault! Anyway...
Pros
----
* Graphics are good (though not as good as I expected)
* Controls are easy to learn, but hard to master providing a challenge
* Character creation is a nice touch, gives the game some longevity
Cons
----
* Story mode on Normal is way too easy, and I haven't played a Fighting game for nearly 5 years!
* Arcade mode will drive you INSANE! This is waaaay too difficult, especially with Vader and The Apprentice. The main problem is you can't actually choose a difficulty level like in Story
* Story.....well there isn't any. The endings are truly disapointing, nothing like those of the original Soul Edge. Pity
Get it but don't expect an all powerful game that will destroy all comers. This feels rushed and unbalanced with some characters being too overpowered compared to others.....and you can't customise Vader or The Apprentice =/
