Guitar Hero 5 Game Only - Guitar Controller Required To Play

The game that started the modern music phenomenon is back, with more songs, more bands and more party game action. Just like Guitar Hero: World Tour you can play as a whole band with your friends, with lead guitar, bass, drums and vocals all working together in the same song.

What's new for Guitar Hero 5 though is that anyone can play any combination of instruments, so you can have four lead guitars if you want or even swap roles mid song. As a result each individual has their own Star Power meter and it's up to the best players to save others if things go wrong.

To encourage even more co-operation there's also the new Band Moments bonus, which doles out big rewards if every member of the team can complete a section together. With the RockFest feature adding tons of new game modes as well this is the best value Guitar Hero yet.

  • Monster of rock: The biggest Guitar Hero yet with new ways to play, new rewards and the biggest line-up of master recordings ever seen.
  • Jam with the band: Party Play option lets players join or leave a song whenever they want, or even change instruments or difficultly level mid-song.
  • Rock festival: New game modes including Momentum, which changes the difficultly as you play, and Elimination, where the weakest link player is dropped if they mess up.
  • Special moments: New "Band Moments" offer big rewards if everyone can co-operate for a set stretch of rock perfection.
  • Hall of fame: A record-breaking 85 songs by 83 different artists, including The White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty and more.
  • In the all-new Party Play mode, players can now jump in or drop out of gameplay seamlessly, without interrupting their jam session
  • Play with any in-game instrument combination in any game mode - multiple vocalists

Rock On....er for the fifth time!5
I wanna rock............I wanna rock!

Im totally incapable of ever learning an instrument, tried loads when I was a kid and through a combination of stubby fingers and a complete lack of music rhythm I failed.....miserably, my dreams of being a rock god dashed before they had even begun.

Many years past........

Then a light, cast down by the Rock gods, Guitar Hero (and to a lesser extent Rock Band which is nearly as good as the guitar hero games) Armed with the various incarnations of plastic axes (Axe = Guitar for those not in the know about Rock) I have been able to live out my Rock dreams from the comfort of my own home, I've jammed with Slash, rocked out with the Rolling Stones and head banged with Metallica.

This newest edition of Guitar Hero has a more diverse selection of tracks then the previous games there are bound to be a few not to your taste. However you should be able to find a few favourites and may be introduced to some new music you might enjoy.

The game has loads to do for the single player but really comes into its own with a group of friends allowing you to create your own digital band and take on the rest of the world in the various competitive and fun online modes.

Highly recommended

Rock On Future Guitar Heroes......Rock On!

Very good game, not so good song line up4
Well, first of all, I'm not new to the Guitar Hero franchise. I have every Guitar Hero title that came out for the PS3, and I was looking forward to this particular one because of all the upgrades it would have to the game's mechanics. The ability to join in or drop out of a song in progress, or to pick whichever instrument you want to play for any song - no longer fighting over who's going to be the lead guitarist of the song - are only a few of the new things that make Guitar Hero 5 indeed a better game and a better product than say, Guitar Hero World Tour.

The problem is, the latter had memorable songs and lots of hits in its lineup, whereas GH5 doesn't seem to. It could be that the songs are coming from genres I'm not very familiar with or I'm getting too old and the songs are recent, but to me it seems as though - with the exception of say, 10 songs or so - the other 75 songs in the game are just mediocre and not great choices for a party game. It leaves me with an awkward feeling of wishing I had the game upgrades/mechanics of GH5 with the GHWT lineup of songs.

So overall, buy it if you have every Guitar Hero game out there and you already have squeezed everything out of the previous titles. If however you're new to the franchise, ignore this for now and start with Guitar Hero 3 or Guitar Hero World Tour.

Obviously the game industry is very aware of the succes of Guitar Hero. Yes, there are some good songs in this game but indeed is it worth nearly £40? I think not!
It seems that that the developers put a few tracks on there that appeal to a lot of players but the majority of tracks do not make the grade. Of course this way they can bring out Guitar Hero 6 in a few months.

Why don't they split it up in Rock, Hard-Rock, Heavy Metal ect per game. That way the consumer would get a lot more worth for it's hard earned money. I will pass on this game until it goes below £20.
