Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
In a nutshell:
After seven years the granddaddy of real-time strategy finally gets a proper sequel as GDI and the Brotherhood of Nod face off in the final part of the Tiberium trilogy. As normal you can take either side, as well as a third secret faction heavily hinted to be alien in origin….
The lowdown:
The Command & Conquer games helped to kick start the real-time strategy genre back in the ‘90s and now finally this sequel is here to breath new life into what was an idea that seemed to get old long before its time. Naturally the graphics have been improved immensely, with tanks kicking up dust in their passing and larger explosions causing huge craters in the landscape. The artificial intelligence has also been hugely improved with expert path-finding for all units and a computer opponent that adjust its playing style to the pace of game you prefer. All of this is topped off by the dense storytelling fans love, including lots of live action cut scenes.
Most exciting moment:
The stunning graphics make for some hugely cinematic battles, with squadrons of Orca gunships kicking up debris from the ground beneath their jet exhausts, as they battle buildings filled with Nod snipers before eventually calling in a missile strike to level the whole battleground.
Since you ask:
EA has confirmed that fan favourite Kane – the bald headed leader of the evil Nod – will feature heavily in the game story, although whether he’ll be played by the same actor as before is unclear.
The bottom line:
The best selling strategy series ever finally returns to the PC.

C&C3 is RTS brilliance!
C&C3 brings back the Tiberium-based gameplay of Tiberian Dawn (C&C) and Tiberian Sun (C&C2) with the gameplay being fast, fluid and fun. For any C&C fans out there, the Kane edition is for you! The added extras (new maps, unit skins and a whole DVD of bonus content) make the Kane edition perfect for any die-hard C&C fans (Like myself).
A free demo is out, get it over at www.commandandconquer.com if you want to try it out before you buy it!
[A little tip for those trying out the demo, both sides are available even though Nod is greyed out. To play as them just click NOD and press N and there you go... Same goes for the play styles]
EA have done a brilliant job with C&C3, back to the roots of why C&C was such a classic! This is RTS brilliance and in my opinion is a must buy! Well done EA!
Evolutionary, Not Revolutionary
Well, i've been playing this game for ages since I got it a few days ago and, boy, am I pleased.
My relatively highly-speced up system can run the game at full settings without a single bit of lag and it looks stunning. The static objects aren't terribly impressive but the special effects are. The explosions, heat haze, smoke, lasers etc are the stars of the show. As well as eye candy you get varying units (unlike Supreme Commander) and plenty of little extra weapons to use at little cost to add new variables.
After playing Supreme Commander for a while, it was nice to have some instant action in a 30 minutes explosive battle instead of a potentially dull 3 hour match with potentially little action. I still like SupCom but you can't just have a go when you have a little spare time, but with this you can and it's great. Plenty of variation in the units and weaponary to play with to keep your brain busy as well as structure architecture to keep your eyes busy. My only complaint about the game is that there is too little Tiberium AKA resources (IMO) so you can feel a little restricted but then again that could add another variable which would be who can manage their funds the best.
It's nice to have an additional army in the Scrin as well as the GDI and NOD and i've already found that they're my favourite of the 3. Stunning looking as well. You also unlock their own campaign which you achieve after finishing NOD and GDI campaigns. I've already done that and the Scrin is obviously developed with the fact that you've just beat the other 2 campaigns in mind as it's quite challenging.
The music is also quite good and, according to imdb at least, it's composed by the same guy who did the music for the movie The Island. Not bad.
If you like RTS, this is a MUST BUY. I see people are critical of the fact there's not too much new, but good fun shouldn't be different. Kane Edition extra DVD features are interesting as well and it gives you tips on how various units can be used to their best effect. 9/10.
