	The Cat in the Hat: Green Back Book (Dr Seuss 50th Birthday Edition) by Dr. Seuss Buy new: £4.99 / Used from: £0.01 Mandatory evening reading for our 3 1/2 year-old... One of the first books that really raised moral questions (is it a good or bad cat, is he funny or silly, etc.).
	Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson Buy new: £2.99 / Used from: £0.01 A favourite at around age 3: nice for parents/readers too, because they can invent new voices for each animal at leisure.
	Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson Buy new: £3.17 / Used from: £0.01 Another favourite, around age 2 1/2 - 3: except around times when Mum will be away, a favourite that finishes with a cuddle with Mum and/or Dad.
	A Squash and a Squeeze by Julia Donaldson Buy new: £2.99 / Used from: £0.01 Especially enjoyed around the age of 3: son loved to take toy characters and animals to put the story to life.
	A Squash and a Squeeze by Julia Donaldson Buy new: £3.58 / Used from: £2.99 Very enjoyable CD: nice for a change when family's reader is tired or has a sore throat. Pleasant, entertaining music (especially when the cow dances the jig) and voice.
	Hop, Skip and Jump: Exercises, Activities and Games to Increase Your Child's Movement, Posture and Balancing by Peter Walker Buy used from: £0.01 Good for bonding with Dad over the weekend, especially around 18-24 months. Son who could not yet talk would fetch the book from the shelf to explain what he wanted.
	My Potty Book for Boys (My First Series) Buy used from: £0.01 Both sons have found it (resp. are finding it) very entertaining and appealling, even if they are not interested in potty training. The young models have friendly faces, the photos very appealling.
	The Three Little Pigs [With CD] (Read-Along Stories) I was not sure about the American accent at first, but my son loved it, and soon started repeating key phrases or whole sentences (around age 3).
	Dear Zoo: Lift the Flaps by Rod Campbell Buy used from: £0.01 I am surprised this book survived after all the handling it endured by our first son from around age 6 months to 18 months. For some reason, not quite as appealling to second son though (yet?).
	The Very Hungry Caterpillar [Board Book] by Eric Carle Buy new: £2.95 / Used from: £0.01 A very nice birth present (thank you Ann!): I am thankful that it was the boardbook version, as it also received hard treatment as soon as both sons could hold books. Helpful for counting, too.
	We're Going on a Bear Hunt (Walker story board books) by Michael Rosen Buy new: £3.08 / Used from: £0.01 What shall I say? We all fell in love with this book, again, glad we chose the boardbook rather than the paperback... We all knew it by heart, and yet, wanted to read it again and again!
	Man's Work (All in a Day) Buy new: £2.99 / Used from: £0.15 Son received it at his first birthday: he was enthusiastic from day one, as book showed all the activities he loved then. No text: reader can adapt comments to child's age and understanding.
