A great "mini-movie" with Ash and co meeting up with Mewtwo once again. This is the first time Ash and Giovanni meet and the feature as a whole is fantastic and a worthy addition to any collection.

This set of seven episodes is actually pretty good. Once again, Wobbuffet steals the show in "The Wayward Wobbuffet". The mini story arc with Articuno is also very enjoyable.

Once again, there's nothing really notable here with the exception of the introduction of Kecleon- a Pokémon from a game that hadn't yet been released. And, at long last, Ash reaches Cianwood Gym.

Sadly, much of this box set is wasted on a tedious excursion to the Whirl Islands. The Lugia mini-arc, however, excels as do the various two-parters.

This is a great Pokémon movie with some fantastic and dramatic action sequences and a touching end. Highly recommended movie.

"We're No Angels" and "Training Daze", the episodes starring Team Rocket, are worth the price of this set alone- and the other episodes are all great, too. Highly recommended.

This is a great DVD to open up the season. With only the fifth episode letting it down somewhat, this volume is highly recommended.

There's nothing much of note here, though it's on this volume that May gets a Wurmple and Brock gets his Lotad, in two good episodes. The rest of the episodes aren't awful, just not great.

"Which Wurmple Is Which?" is highly amusing and "A Mudkip Mission" gives Brock a new Pokémon. Also of note, this volume gives us the first appearance of Ash's Corphish.

A solid Gym battle rematch episode and a good Contest episode are here joined by three good-but-not-great adventures. Worth it.

Essentially, the the first half of the season. Not an essential purchase but here for completion's sake. Very highly recommended.

This is the most touching Pokémon movie so far, with the relationship between Max and Jirachi being the cause for the emotion, yet it's still suitably dark in places. A very good movie, overall.

Some filler here, an annoying new Pokémon there and a good (and, in parts, very funny) prelude to a Contest episode make this DVD's episodes a mixed bunch.
