Excellent Toy for technology-minded toddlers
My 16 month old son loves playing with my mobile phone and my husband's blackberry so I was looking for a toy for Christmas that would keep him occupied and away from our phones. I read the description of this leapfrog toy and thought it might be good for my son, even though the recommended age is 3+. I am so glad I ignored the minimum age suggestion. My son LOVES the text and Learn. I think it is a great toy for young children just learning to speak. The alphabet keys are easy for small fingers to press and when pressed the voice states the letter and the sound the letter makes (for example 'F' as in 'phhh for flapping frogs'. ) The screen also shows animations of the description being given which is both entertaining and educational. There are a couple of 'games' as part of this toy, which are currently above my sons ability, but this is just something we will have to look forward to in the future. If I had one complaint it would be that the toy does not come with a plastic screen protector. We have only had the toy for 5 days and already the screen is pretty scratch up. We bought our own, but it would make sense to include one as this toy is designed for toddlers so you need to expect it to take some abuse. Overall a great toy which I can see my son getting lots of enjoyment out of!
