Symbols of beauty and mystery, wolves have always evoked both fear and admiration in humans - their only enemy. Through countless generations, the wolf has simply wanted to be left alone, to hunt, play and raise its young. Yet over time, our attitude toward the wolf has changed dramatically. Early civilisations revered wolves as creators and helpers. In the Middle Ages, wolves became symbols of evil. In recent times wolves were nearly hunted to extinction. Today, the wolf is an icon of the wild, its howl a cry for preservation. It has been quite a journey - from creator to feared killer to spiritual guardian of the wild. Wolf: Legend, Enemy, Icon chronicles the facts and stories, and includes breathtaking photographs and fascinating artefacts.

"Filled with beautiful, evocative photographs, Wolf explores the changing relationship man has had with this animal. Poems, quotes and artefacts bring extra depth and flavour to create a stunning and thought-provoking look at an animal we have both welcomed into our homes and almost driven into distinction. Customer Reviews
You can feel wolf's emotion through all brilliant photographs
What makes this title so special that I am more than pleasure and great honor to share it with everyone?
The answer is simple:STUNNING PHOTOGRAPHS
None of the picture in this fascinating collection (Yes,not even one!) will let any passionate wolf lover or crazy animal amateur (like me) down. The pictures are really, really astonishing. You can understand what the wolves are actually thinking,as well as their pride, their sadness,or their joys with life. These photographs are so amazing that they always allow you to see through the wolf's eyes and their mind, stating the very definition of WILDNESS.In fact, they are simply powerful enough to give out the impression of they are standing right in front of you,ALIVE!
The proportion of writing to photographers are about 50-50.There are a total of 7 chapters in the book, but the two main content can be identified:
1.Ecology of wolf
2.The stories, myths, history of wolf and their association with mankind
They are well written and detailed enough for me,since I always put my focus on their look in photographs, and their every single move just always catch my mind!
I love these creature,so i decided to share this book with everyone, and to raise our attention to their conservation.Hope you enjoy this review! :)
P.S. Oh just one more thing to say.Although i bought the hardcover one the paperback's edition is equally good, according to what I have seen in book shop.Just go for it if you really want the paperback one!
Restoring the reputation of the wolf
This book is absolutely brilliant - I could not put it down. Spectacular photographs, and excellent research into how our view of the wolf has changed from early man through to the present day. A must for all wolf lovers!
