Alex Cross, Washington, DC, FBI agent, is back in his most explosive adventure yet. And so is the Wolf. And so is the Weasel.

Alex Cross is on vacation when he gets the call. A town in Nevada has been annihilated and the Russian super-criminal known as the Wolf is claiming responsibility. Major cities around the globe are threatened with total destruction and the thought of such dark genius at work makes Alex’s blood run cold.

Cross is catapulted into an international chase of astonishing danger. Arriving in London, he fights his way through a torrent of false leads, impersonators and foreign agents. Then, in the most unforgettable finale, Alex Cross confronts the truth of the Wolf’s identity – a revelation that even Cross himself may be unable to survive.

Full of the high-voltage action and enthralling intrigue for which James Patterson is best known, LONDON BRIDGES is an unforgettable thriller that will grip you from cover to cover.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
London Bridges is something of a departure for James Patterson's Alex Cross novels in that it contains a serious speculation about what would--some might say, what will--happen if international crime copies the methods of terrorists or forms an alliance with them. The Russian mafia boss known as the Wolf delivers an ultimatum--large cash payments will be made and various prisoners released, or he will set off nuclear explosions in London, New York, Paris and Tel Aviv.

To prove his seriousness, he has already destroyed several small townships and a couple of bridges; this book inhabits a world where people will murder thousands just to prove that they are serious. Cross's usual ability to get inside the mind of a killer is far more of a problem when the killer is a man who has successfully erased his past, who communicates through cut-outs and expendable hirelings. Patterson's terse chapters and breakneck pacing are effective here--with its extended displays of insider knowledge and casual attitude to torture, this is not a likeable book, but it is a suspenseful one.--Roz Kaveney

Shocking1
This is the worst of the James Patterson books that I have read. I found myself skipping through the chapters just so i could get to the end.

The story had potential as terrorism is a current topic in everyone's minds - however I feel James Patterson tried to cram as much as he could into a short book

If you want to find out who the wolf is remember its dissapointing and to read 400 pages to get there is a waste of time

London Bridge is falling down!1
What a great disappointment. Two unbelievable characters, the Wolf & the weasel behave as poor marvel comic creations with unbelievable plots and a poor Mr Cross who should have stayed in San Francisco.
You are writing too many books Mr Patterson, take a break and refresh yourself, hopefully getting back to your great early work

Not what I expect from Patterson!2
I have been an on again off again James Patterson Fan, generally he writes entertaining books (but some I have found wanting). The problem with London Bridges is it assumes the reader already knows the lead character, Alex Cross - it also assumes this about secondary characters. I have read other Alex Cross books, so I am familiar with the character, still some development of is character would be good background info and help get the reader back up to speed. For example the relationship with his ex wife and son are left totally unexplained?

The short chapters and pacing of the book were another annoyance. The speed of the book was too fast right from the beginning leaving no room to pick up the pace toward the end, which is what you want in a thriller. It almost seemed as if the author was leaving out needed detail at the expense of a fast pace. It almost felt as if the author were pressured to get this book out under some kind of time line?
I am Lucky to have read other James Patterson books that rated higher than this one, so I know the author is capable of better things. Fans of the author will surely still want to read this book but there money may be better spent on a used copy or waiting for paperback.

Speaking of pacing you may want to check out "A TOURIST IN THE YUCATAN" a thriller were the author does a great job of setting the pace!
