LANZA'S LONDON LEGACY
For longtime Mario Lanza fans, this is nothing new, though you would benefit from RCA's excellent transfer to CD, available for several years now. Far superior to the various vinyl and cassette releases.For newer admirers, this is a wonderful, atmospheric and entertaining full concert recording from the Royal Albert Hall in 1958 - 18 months before Lanza's sudden death. And what a legacy. He sings superbly throughout mixing opera, art song, musical numbers and hits with the kind of aplomb unmatched by any contemparary nor modern equivalents (3 tenors etc). Buy and listen to this extraordinary recording to understand why Lanza continues to be revered and inspires modern day tenors. He is simply magnificent. Fantastic breath control, seamless legato, extraordinary power and volume and the ability to interpret a wide repetoire for the pleasure of his listeners.The interesting booklet tells you that no one ever sang quite like Lanza and no one ever will again.
