A rare gift
I'm a big fan of Lanza and this CD will help ensure his legacy will be brought to the attention of those who think that a tenor just sings opera...or 'popera'.....Lanza trancends all of these (past and present) and his voice is excellent on this CD.
'Serenade' was his first set of recordings after the 'Student Prince' debacle and finds his voice much darker and more opera-orientated. There's a previously unreleased track (an alternate 'Serenade') and this is worth the price of the CD alone.
The 'Cavalcade' tracks find Mario in great voice as he takes some of the classic show tunes and raises them to a higher level.
All in all, a great collection at a great price. A great voice - but then that's obvious !
