Customer Reviews
Essential!
I'm not old enough to remember him originally and I have to admit I only bought the album to wind up my sister who doesn't quite share my recent love of easy, cheesy music.
However, it gets regularly listened to and I've realised that everyone secretly loves his songs! Even those who mocked my purchase knew most of the songs and ended up singing along when they eventually allowed me to play it. Fantastic and guaranteed to brighten up any day.
Recommended And Loved As Intended...
This album was lent to me by my son Guy and quite frankly has reminded me about the things that life should be about. Max sings in his usual earnest manner about the ways that we all possess to improve our lives and the lives of others. He reminds us that love and happiness go together in a way that we may well have forgotten in this ore self-conscious age. If you want a bit of Olde Worlde charm and sincerity, then this ablum is the one for you - there are nods to Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Junior, Elaine Paige and Oscar Peterson and Jan Garbarek even makes a guest appearance on Harpsichord. This is music for happy days and riotous sunshine. Buy this and remember what mum's apple oies used to taste of - my son Guy certainly loves eating mine!
brilliant, genius
I was left this album by my Uncle in his will and I have been a Max fan from that moment onwards. His tender voice and melodic dexterity astound and will leave many a listener wondering what they missed in the sixties. Hits like You Need Hands stagger with their profoundity. Protest marches and bra burning seem inconsequential when music like this has such healing power. I would recommend this album to all discerning music buyers.
