Customer Reviews
Comfortable and practical.
I bought these shoes because I wanted something that had the ease and comfort of the pumps (plimsolls) they used to make us wear in primary school. As it stands nothing I've worn since primary school has even approached that level of comfort, until now (but then; this could be due to the fact that nothing ever does compare to the things in which we approved of strongly in our childhoods).
In fact until I got these it had been just as long since I had owned a pair of shoes which I felt comfortable enough to wear around the house without feeling any strong desire to kick them off and let my feet breathe.
An added bonus of the these shoes is, depending on what you're doing or where you're going (I got the black/dark grey check design, which is listed as 'black/black) that they're suitable for almost any occasion.
The soles have a grip comparable to almost any other trainer I've owned, but I would advise against walking on polished surfaces when wet.
Good looking
I bought the white on white chequer board design because they look good but it might not have been the best decision as they're getting dirty very quickly and unless I threw it away with the box by mistake then there were no washing instructions. That said they're smart and comfortable and my sixteen year old says they're too trendy for me. If you have broad feet or sticky up big toe nails then Vans aren't for you as they're quite narrow and flat. Said sixteen year old can't wear them for both reasons.
I get to be trendy.
I'm a vegetarian for moral reasons, and as such I don't use any animal products, nor I do wear any. So, its been hard for me to get "trendy" shoes. As it would seem 95% of all footwear that looks good has leather on it somewhere.
Sadly it seems the mentality of shoe makers is to only use PVC or other non-leather products in CHEAP shoes. So, for the longest time I have warn cheap canvas shoes.
Recently, after years of not even bothering to look to see if there are new brands of shoes without leather - I happened by a pair of Van's in a sale. They looked really neat and unusual and so, I bought them.
I've now got more than 10 pairs and that's set to rise.
