Excellent Phone!5

The Sony Ericsson W980 phone looked a bit confusing at first, considering my previous phone was the Nokia 1100. However, in no time at all i found myself using it without any problems. In other words, this phone is really easy to use, even for those without experience.

So lets start with the basics, it looks great, the buttons are easy to use and of a decent size, as is the screen.

With 8gb of storage, you'll be able to fill it up with 1000's of songs. You can use the walkman feature when the phone is either open or closed. When a song is playing the light at the bottom pulsates in time with the music, which looks awesome :). If you really want to show the phone off, you'll be able to change tracks by flicking the phone right and left and turn the volume up and down by tilting the phone up and down (both can only happen whilst holding down the middle button). The music is really clear, even at full volume, and doesn't distort.

Using the HPM-77 headset you can experience clear bass and stereo. There's also different equalizer presets to suit all your musical tastes. You can also get track information, including album artwork using the "TrackID" function, which connects to the internet.

Now moving on to the camera, its 3.2 megapixels, so although not as high as some other phones on the market - it still takes great clear pictures. In the camera mode you can easily switch between camera and video by navigating right using the navigation key, which can be handy. There are a few effects in the menu screen such as Black And White, Negative and Sepia, if you want to make your pictures a little more interesting. A few other things such as Night Mode and Self Timer can also be found in the menu.

The only fault i have to say about the camera is its positioning, i often find myself covering the lens without realising it.

In the media menu you can view your pictures, videos and games, as well as web feeds. When viewing a picture you've taken you can look at the location it was taken at, using google maps, which can be found from the menu screen. You can also rotate the picture by turning the phone 90 degrees to the left (Videos can also be rotated in the same way). There is also an application called "PhotoDJ" where you can have fun editing your pictures.

The games included are Lumines Block, Sudoku & Need For Speed. Nothing too amazing to mention here, other than a cool feature i found on Need For Speed, as well as using the "4" and "6" buttons to steer, you can also tilt the phone left and right to do this, which adds a little more fun to it.

There is also a built in FM radio, which uses the handsfree kit as an antenna. It has great sound, and good reception.

Overall, i was very impressed with this phone and would highly recommend it.
