Promax Diet, strawberry - a female point of view...
ABOUT ME
I recently started strength training for the first time and realized my protein intake was significantly deficient. I'm not a vegetarian but don't much like meats and find it difficult to consume enough protein through diet alone. So, I started looking for suitable protein shakes...
I'm female and very petite so I decided to get this - simply because Maximuscle is a reputable company and I found lots of info on their website (which is very female friendly by the way - everything suitable for women appears together so it's easy to make sense of everything). I decided to have one portion everyday (alongside my regular diet). One portion is 2 scoops mixed in with 300ml of water.
TASTE
First few sips were alright. It's strawberry but very artificial in flavour. I thought, 'OK it's not too bad' but a few sips later I was feeling very sickly. The smell and taste of the shake was so overwhelming that just the thought of taking another sip made me feel sick. I felt queasy for the rest of the day.
OUTCOME
So, flavour is a subjective thing I know - you may get this and love it but I couldn't stand it. One portion was all I could handle! I am glad that at the same time I ordered this, I also purchased other items so I am not put off protein shakes completely! I can highly recommend maximuscle promax-Cookies & Cream flavour - it's sweet but not sickly. You don't taste anything artificial or medicinal - it just tastes like a normal shake except it's packed with protein!
NOTES
Something about Promax Diet which I found a bit confusing was that on the Maximuscle website (and on Amazon) it says this is supposed to be a meal replacement but on the packaging it says the product should not be a used meal replacement and that it is best to consume it e.g. as a snack, as a boost after training or alongside a meal. It's 228 calories and 37g of protein a portion so how you fit it in to your daily diet will depend on what else you're eating I suppose.
CONCLUSION
I'm sure Promax Diet is beneficial but I hated how the shake tasted and I wouldn't recommend it especially when one potion is 300ml (that's a lot when you can't bare to drink it). For me, I prefer to take regular Promax with is only 120 calories (and 23g of protein) and they've got more flavours to choose from. They are completely suitable for women and the shakes taste very good - it looks like it's more economical too but you would have to work out how you're going to use the shake and take it from there.
