Product Description

Here is a picture of organised crime, seen within the ranks of the Hell's Angels, the Yardies, the Triads and the Yakuza, as well as the old-style East-End gangs. It is an insight into their initiation ceremonies, their methods, their money-raising tactics; a timely portrayal of Britain's worst criminal problem.

An excellent book, useful for amateurs and criminologists4
As a criminology student I found this book to be superb for giving information on the up to date activities of British gangsters. It is well thought out and planned and gives excellent information.

It is a little heavey on the London side of crime but this is to be expected from a London based author.

It's history of the Hell's Angels and the Yakusa give hard to find information about these secretive groups.

All in all an excellent read and a useful reference.

Eye opening account of the underworld3
An eye opening and in many ways a frightening book. The trouble is that after a few chapters the book becomes very 'samey', not through any fault of the author but because organised crime gangs tend to do the same thing i.e. sell drugs and hurt people.

A good start for british gangs3
The author has some good connections in the underworld and comes up with a fairly accurate picture of criminal gangs in Britain, although a bit dated today, Iread MR.Thompsons followup first,Gangs which is much better. My only complaint is that the author treats the use of drugs as something that needs to be stopped at all costs not that adults should not be crimilised for their behaviour. The vast majority of drug users do not engage in crime[95%].The sting operations by customs on those guys from Cali was an indicator how corrupt Law Enforcement gets. The topsy turvy values of prohibition ensures they get promotion, carreer enhancement, more funds for their Dept.,publicity all because they created a crime.Little thought for Francisco who was deceived by them and who probably paid the ultimate price.A thought provocing little book.
