Amazon.co.uk Review
The winning comic finesse of Reese Witherspoon drives Legally Blonde 2. It's astonishing that the sequel could possibly be daffier than the first movie, but Legally Blonde 2 leaves reality behind like an unflattering outfit. Unemployed lawyer Elle Woods (Witherspoon) sets off to the US capitol to ban cosmetics testing on animals, after discovering that her beloved Chihuahua's own mother is being used as a test subject. Washington DC becomes a testing ground for Elle's mettle, as she grapples with callous committees, backstabbing representatives and devious aides to get her bill considered by Congress, with some help from her sorority sisters and her hairdresser friend Paulette (Jennifer Coolidge). Witherspoon bursts with charisma and dazzles with sheer performing skill; she's the comic heir to screwball comedienne Carole Lombard--which is high praise. The film also features Bob Newhart and Sally Field. --Bret Fetzer

Synopsis
Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) returns in all of her pink splendour in this sequel to LEGALLY BLONDE. This time, spunky lawyer Elle is in the midst of planning her wedding to law professor Emmett Richmond (Luke Wilson) when she realises that she has to locate the mother of her pet Chihuahua, Bruiser, in order to include her on the guest list. A detective locates Bruiser's mother, only to find her in an animal testing facility. Determined to put an end to the practice and to free Bruiser's mum in time for the wedding, Elle heads to Washington, D.C. to work as a legislative aid to fellow Harvard Law alum, Representative Victoria Rudd (Sally Field). Unfortunately, Capitol Hill isn't as welcoming as Elle had hoped, and she finds herself learning about the darker side of Washington politics. Undeterred, the ever-optimistic Elle enlists her friends to help in her campaign to stop animal testing. Witherspoon is delightful as the wide-eyed, good-hearted Elle. Bob Newhart stars as Elle's politically aware doorman, and Jennifer Coolidge reprises her role as Paulette, Elle's personal beauty consultant. Directed by Charles Herman-Wurmfeld, the film also stars Regina King, Bruce McGill, and Dana Ivey.

THERE OUGHT TO BE A LAW...
...against bad sequels, and this one is bad, despite the comedic deftness of Reese Witherspoon. Not even she can save a screenplay that is this bad. It lacks the snappy dialogue and clever madcap situations that elevated the prequel into the ranks of successful screwball comedies. This sequel simply tanks, in spite of Ms. Witherspoon's ever present, personal winsomeness. Despite her, this film falls flatter than a pancake, which is a shame, since the original Legally Blonde movie had been so charmingly funny.
Unfortunately, this film is quite disappointing and simply not in the same league, despite the casting of the original star and some of the original supporting cast. Not even the addition of Sally Fields and Robert Newhart elevates this drivel to a film worth watching. Moreover, if you are not a fan of Reese Witherspoon, you should deduct one star from my rating.
A Blonde Sequel
Elle Woods is shocked to learn that her dog’s mother is being held prisoner at an animal testing facility. Since she wants the dog to attend her upcoming wedding, she immediately sets out to get her freed and heads down to Washington DC to make Congress pass a bill to ban animal testing, thereby freeing the dog.
Having been a fan of the original, I went into this movie with high hopes. Boy, was I disappointed. The first movie presented Elle as a smart person when it was something she was interested in who had to grow and mature to reach a new goal. We could sympathize with her and root for her, especially as we saw her heart of gold come through. Here, she just appears clueless, blindly going from plot point to plot point. The movie also presents a very pessimistic view of our government. Yet Elle is still able to proceed through in an oblivious manner. The movie might have been more fun if the supporting characters from the first movie had come back, but they are basically reduced to expanded cameos. Furthermore, the movie goes overboard in its PC agenda. Basically, it’s unbelievable.
The laughs are few and far between in this far inferior sequel. Do yourself a favor and stick with the original.
Legally Brilliant
I already loved the film Legally Blonde when this came out but with sequels i always have my doubts... this however fufilled my expectations and was so enjoyable to watch. The story line isn't exactly deep but it's filled with heartwarming moments, gorgeous clothes and it's bound to get at least one laugh out of the soberest of people. It's fun, pink and accsesorised.
