Customer Reviews

A quality-ish read !4
This is a nice book which certainly gets you playing from the off. It builds up to some highly playable pieces towards the back-end in the style of Stevie Ray Vaughn, the chicago blues masters and BB King etc. Yet the front end could be better - the opening licks are pretty tired scale-based exercises which aren't terribly inspirational and don't really do much to raise your thinking of how the blues works.

Thus you need to use this book alongside a technique-based book (or a teacher) if you are at the level of trying to learn vibrato or string bending - still some nice tracks at the end and overall well-worthy of purchase

The absolute best blues guitar instruction book...ever !!5
My experience has taught me that you need to buy about ten guitar instruction books to find one that is halfway decent. Stop right here! This book/cd is simply the best I have ever encountered. It is simple. And, it takes you immediately to the fun part of guitar playing. I bought a second copy just so I can share it with others whom I teach. Incredibly simple and easy to understand. The tablature enables us "non- music" readers to finally get in on some of the fun. No theory, just the fun!!!!

Yeah ! Top Banana5
I thought i would try an example of the Fast Forward series so I choose this one after hearing a few demo tracks on a web site as it was the type of blues i like.I am only a few sections into this book taking it slowly making sure i absorb and understand everything and yeah i love it. The book "Blues you can use" was good but got a little too hard towards the end as they do bogged down with too many scale patterns and hard pieces, although i gave it a rave review on amazon. Unlike "Blues you can use" this book comes with the with and without lead guitar format so you can play too the backing tracks once you have mastered the pieces which is a god send. Will definately try more in the series.
