VOX Valve Reactor for true tube power amp sound and feel. The AD30VT features Voxs patented VOX Valve Reactor found on all Valvetronix products. The Valve Reactor circuit uses a 12AX7 triode vacuum tube together with an actual low-wattage tube power amp circuit, a virtual output transformer and a dummy speaker circuit that simulates the impedance changes of a real speaker. It also reconfigures itself so that its characteristics are the same as the amps its modeling (class A, class AB, negative feedback circuit, etc.). Best Value Amp Available
I have just purchased this amp for my son and must say I am utterly amazed at the sound quality and versatility it has. I have played guitar for some 30 years and have owned some good amps including Mesa Boogie and Cornford. Leave all that stuff to the purists. If you are a player and want virtually any amp and effect sound this is the one for you. The genius of this is the design of the power amp, using a 12AX7 pre-amp tube configured as a power amp tube. When pushed it produces all the classic feel and dynamics of a full blown tube amp. However due to the power reduction pot at the back this can be achieved at any volume (impossible with a normal decent valve amp)! It also comes with a decent 10" speaker which can easily cope with the 30 watts when the amp is cranked.
I only wish something like this was available when I first started playing as it would have saved me a fortune purchasing expensive gear only to get it home and being disapointed that my amp didn't sound like the guy on the record.
It really is no surprise that this amp has been so highly reviewed among the guitar fraternity.
