Manufacturer's Description

This is the toy that can really read your mind!

Based on the traditional guessing game, played on most long journeys, school trips and holidays with the parents, this game has been bought into the 21st century! The idea of the game, think of anything, and that literally means anything, from your next door neighbour to a tub of lard, then answer the questions the 20Q throws at you as honestly and accurately as you can. The twenty questions will be answerable with either "yes", "no", "sometimes" or "don't know".

How does the 20Q guess what you are thinking? The artificial intelligence behind the game is a neural-network, similar to a human brain. A brain, or neural-network, is built from neurons connected by synaptic connections. A human brain has about one hundred trillion (100,000,000,000,000) synaptic connections. The 20Q.net online version has about ten million (10,000,000), and the pocket version has about two hundred and fifty thousand (250,000). The game uses the neural-network to choose the next question as well as deciding what to guess

What are the strangest items it will guess?
"Try it and see. So far we've got it to guess Samurai Sword, Love, Duck Billed Platypus and many other oddments.

Will it guess rude things?
Try it for yourself, but don't tell your mother what you're thinking!

Gets it right most times4

This toy/game looked so attractive that I just had to open it and play with it as an early Christmas present to myself.

It's a simple concept (just like the old twenty questions guessing game), where you think of something - anything - and 20Q asks you a question to which you answer 'yes', 'no', 'sometimes' or 'don't know'. After you've answered 20 times he makes his guess, and wins it if is correct. If he's wrong he gets another 5 questions and guesses again.

20Q has a cheeky sense of humour, with comments in between the questions which suggests he's finding this too easy and will always win, and although this adds to the fun and entertainment value, he does actually get it wrong sometimes. But this is a golf-ball sized pocket game costing only pocket money, so it should be enjoyed rather than taken too seriously.

Crucial to the successful guessing by 20Q is your answer to the first question `Is it animal, vegetable, mineral, other, or unknown'? If you answer inaccurately he will almost always guess wrong. For example for shoes you should answer `animal' (leather) or for book you should answer `vegetable' (paper). If in doubt, or if your choice is a mixture of more than one then choose 'other'. In fact I found 20Q's success rate much higher whenever you go for this option.

I've played it about 50 times so far, and providing you answer the questions accurately it guesses correctly about 85% of the time. Most amazing is its ability to guess correctly when the questions seem completely unrelated to what you are thinking of.

Treated as a bit of fun this will provide plenty of entertainment - in the office (with the sound turned off), for bored kids in the car, or simply 5 minutes of light entertainment for adults. Mind you, I played it non-stop for 2 hours after first taking it out of the box.

A simple, fun and inexpensive gadget for all ages.

An intriguing handful4
An intriguing item -- quite small in view of its apparent ability to cope with almost all objects which you think of and then answer, honestly, the questions it asks you. Easily held in one hand so it can be used on the tube or when in a queue -- but not under the desk at school!
"I know what you're thinking" is the message it gives you when you switch on and almost every time, it does! Spooky!
You think you have beaten it and then it comes up with the object you have chosen.
Suitable for all age groups. Will keep children occupied on long car journeys as well as adult passengers.

Yawn...2
I was bored of this within 5 minutes, however luckly it was not my money wasted on it since it was a gift. It often takes much more then 20 questions to guess what your thinking yet still proclaims that it has won even then.

I doubt anyone could be amused by this long enough to make it worth any kind of money, if you are however desperate to play 20 questions find a person you will certainly be happy you did.
