Synopsis
Milet's four bilingual Elmer titles ("Elmer's Colours", "Elmer's Day", "Elmer's Friends", "Elmer's Weather") add to the publishing phenomenon about the little elephant who is different to all the others, first published in 1989. 'Total sales of the (Elmer) books in Britain alone exceed a million copies and they have now appeared in over 20 languages. There is hardly a month when an Elmer book is not being reprinted in more than one language.' - "Anderson Press".

Elmer's Friends - Delight Reading - For Toddlers
This is another firm favourite from the Elmer series of board books. The book looks at lots of Elmer’s animal friends from Zebra to Lions and Polar Bears to Snakes - Elmer loves them all. With a little imagination you can make the book come alive even more. For example doing the hissing sound for the snake or the roar for the lion. When you get to the page with the kangaroo don't forget to bounce the book up and down. The final pages show all the animals and our little one points to each animal as we say their name thus reinforcing recognition. The board book is very robust and able to withstand lots of rough treatment. The colours are very bright and our little one responds very well to this book - five star fun!
Elmer's Worthy Spends
McKee has again created another delightful Elmer book that does not fail expectations. Children may get tired of it, but because of the typically colourful happy illustrations and quick-fire story, they will insist upon having it in their "pile" of books they choose for the bedtime story session.
Each of Elmer's animal kingdom friends have unique attributes, which are described as positive. From this story children learn that everyone is different, but you can love them just the same. Certainly not "arguably the greatest children's book ever written" but certainly worth the money when you want to make this important point to your children without having to sit them in the corner and drone on like Mad Aunt Dot.
4 stars.
Elmer's friends
Great pictures with bright colours. Lots to look at and talk about even with very young children.
