Great pictures with clear written steps
Paul Bottomer is one of the best known writers of beginners dancers books. This is an excellent intro to the major social dancers but be warned some people find learning by words & pictures really hard, also not all the dance teachers around the World teach the same steps or way so the steps in your studio may be different. I do like this book & he has several more.

Good book
This is a great book with useful steps and illustrations. All the major dances are covered up to an intermediate level. Just beware that the type face is very small in this edition (A5), apparently being a direct reduction from the original A4.

Brilliant for teachers and students alike
We found this book to be one of the best books for teachers and students alike in learning/teaching to dance all the required ballroom and latin dances.
Also, this book gives many more steps than other books we have seen so far.
For us, the illustrations are really helpful as are the foot layouts and descriptions.
