Enjoy the games and improve your chess4
This book contains 62 games carefully selected to illustrate the strategy of winning chess. Chernev annotates the games for learners but does not comment on every move as in Logical Chess and this book is a bit more difficult. I would recommend reading a book on tactics and one on mating patterns before/while getting seriously into these 62 games. The table of contents lists the games with a title indicating the main lesson of the game which could be helpful alongside the right tactics book. This book is in descriptive notation but that shouldn't put anyone off. Anyone who can play chess can learn descriptive notation and there are many excellent chess books not in algebraic. My favourite tactics book is Winning Chess by Chernev and Reinfeld, and my favourite mating book is The Art of the Checkmate by Renaud and Kahn. Both books are currently descriptive notation only. Winning Chess explains descriptive notation as do several websites. Play through this book and then play through again. You'll enjoy the games and improve your chess.

CHESS STRATEGY AND ENTHUSIASM5
This book is full of Chernev's enthusiasm for chess strategy, some gems especially by Capablanca - I just love Chernev's excitement over Capa's famous Bf5-d7!! versus janowski , a slight criticism is that the notes are one-sided not critcising many of the winner's moves.

I love the titles of the games - I can still remember Quiet Like a tiger, Weak Squares and Mighty Knights etc. After first reading this book over 30 years ago.
