Customer Reviews
We've just been converted.
We have just had our loft converted. We knew a good carpenter and he recommended a plasterer and an electrician. Not knowing anything at all about building works and wanting to be involved as much as possible we bought this book to help.
I am pleased to say the conversion is a great success and we were able to follow the planning and progress easily and in detail with the use of this book. All the relevent stages of construction were covered from plans through to completion and it was not too technical, which suited us perfectly.
Back to basics
If your thinking of doing a DIY loft conversion then you`ll need to look further a field. This read is back to basics, what is a joist, what is a roof. It has very little useful information. Lets face it if your going to attempt a loft conversion, you`d know what a joist is! I was expecting guides on altering purlins etc...this just disappoints.
You get what you pay for
I read all the reviews, both negative and positive on the site and because of the cost I bought it. It gives a general outline of the principles of loft converting but I still need more answers so will be looking at other books. The illustrations are adequate for the cost of the book but for a cover that has been quckly thrown together without creativity it says a lot about the editor who gives a credit to the cover's designer. I will be selling mine back to amazon when finished not wanting as a momento or for reference.
